*Sorry/Not sorry Long post!
Yesterday was an awesome day! I know I’m a day late but we did get back home until after midnight and we were way to tired. We ended up raising a 1,070$ in monetary donations. And a ton of items were delivered as well from a pallet of diapers to cases of water and cleaning supplies. You all absolutely killed it and I cannot thank you guys enough. We helped out so many family’s that have just had a devastating week. You guys helped put a smile on their face. THANK YOU!
We started the day off by delivering and setting the items up outside of a church nearby. Penny Road Community church. Where they had a crew ready to help! They’d also ordered pizza and had many delicious snacks to give out to families. Along with the sandwiches and snack cakes we had provided. If you left there hungry it was your own fault lol.
Once we had everything setup and ready to go our crew members loaded the trucks up with some supplies and made a few deliveries to homes that weren’t able to get out due to lost vehicles or washed out bridges.. the smiles, the tears, the laughter said it all. After a couple of deliveries we went to a families home that had been without power since the flood hit. (6 Days). The power company had denied turning his power back on due to damage his service took on during the flood. We made repairs and got the inspection passed and called the power company to schedule a reconnect. We left there praying the power company would be able to make it out in a day or two. We also had time to do 2 more electrical inspections on homes that had taken on water and was worried they’d had damage. After evaluating them they were all good and we turned their power back on for them. We repaired a constant tripping breaker in another home that was due to water in a electrical box under a floor. (Flood water). All in all it was a Very rewarding experience during a unfortunate time. *around 10 last night i received a message from the gentleman with the power off that AEP had made it out and turned his power on!! Hallelujah!!!!
We then returned to the church to find that most of the items you all had donated had been handed out but still had a decent amount left. We decided to take the left over items to the local school where they have deemed the local supply center!
It was a long day! We were exhausted but it was an AWESOME day all around. I cannot thank everyone enough for all they done to help us help our neighbors!!! You all are awesome! I didn’t get to take as many pictures as i would have liked due to being so busy helping. But I did happen to catch a few!! Enjoy!!
