Rise STEM Academy for Girls has officially opened the doors to its new home! 🎉 As Rise begins its expansion into a K–8 program, it will become one of only two K–8 all-girls STEM schools in the nation, creating even more opportunities for young women to explore, create, lead and see themselves in the future of STEM. 🔬💡
The new 118,839-square-foot school, located at Mason Headley and Versailles Road in Lexington, was designed to serve up to 900 students. Flexible classrooms, makerspaces and collaborative learning areas support the hands-on, project-based learning at the heart of Rise, with environmentally friendly and energy-efficient strategies incorporated throughout the facility.
Perhaps our favorite part of this project is that Rise students had a voice in shaping their new school. 💗💜 Through the Design Lab program, students shared their creativity, ideas and perspectives directly with some of our incredible female designers at RTA, helping shape everything from color and graphics to spaces that support collaboration, community and Rise’s unique school culture.
As Principal Cynthia Bruno shared, every space in the building was designed with purpose, but its true beauty will be found in what happens here: the questions asked, problems solved, confidence discovered and futures beginning to take shape.
We are so excited to see Rise’s students make this building their own. Welcome home, Rise! 💗💜
