NEDC Architectural Design Build in Cambridge, MA
This lovely family had lived in their Cambridge home for years, drawn to the location but wanting a more aesthetic, functional layout. They were torn between a traditional Architect and Design Build — the age-old tradition of the Architect as Master Builder, integrating full planning with the artisan build sequence. They chose Design Build with NEDC to take advantage of detailed finish selection, complete project guidance, and true turn-key service, soup to nuts.
The home was gutted to the studs and rebuilt with a Scandinavian minimalist touch, making the most of its 1,300 SF. A functional mudroom with custom built-in storage, a new powder room, and a custom kitchen open to a unique family dining space anchor the first floor, with bespoke glass dividers lending separation without full walls. A second bathroom was added upstairs for the kids. And in the basement, we raised the ceiling for the client’s woodworking passion — Jared MacDonald used it to craft the family’s dining table from reclaimed project wood.
