A fence becomes part of the neighborhood around it.

These Headley Green photographs show the wood shadowbox fence behind existing planting, then move closer to the gates beside the home. The project brings screening and access into the same plan.

The right choice should fit your yard, your expectations for privacy, and the way you use the space.

A project photo is a useful starting point for a fence plan.

Our Georgetown feature follows a completed plank-and-wire horse fence installation for the Scott County Schools. The two views show how the fence meets a slope, an existing barn and the tree line.

The article also outlines practical questions to bring to a site review: the purpose of the boundary, ground contours, access and space for maintenance.

A useful fence estimate starts with a clear picture of the property.

Gather your location, a few photographs, your main goal for the fence and the places where you need access. Note any slopes, trees or existing structures that belong in the conversation.

You do not need every answer before reaching out. A good first discussion helps identify what needs a closer look.
