October is Homocystinuria (HCU) Awareness Month! 💙
Looking at my nephew, Elliott today—thriving, full of life, and posing proudly at New Providence Elementary—it can be hard to picture where his journey began in 2018.
HCU is a rare metabolic disorder that prevents the body from properly processing certain proteins. Early detection, newborn screening, and proper management make all the difference in helping children with HCU lead happy, healthy lives.
Our family is so grateful for how far Elliott has come and for the incredible support along the way. This month, we wear blue and spread the word to support all the strong kids and families navigating this condition! We support and pray for ALL families dealing with a rare disease.

🍂 The summer chaos is settling—it's time for a fall home reset!

Once the kids are back in class and the summer chaos settles, fall is the perfect time for a clean slate. But before you pull out the autumn decor, why not give your most-used spaces a real reset?

Over on the blog, we’re sharing our simple 4-Step "Clean Slate" Strategy to help you declutter, prep, and refresh your space step-by-step.

💡 Pro-Tip from the post: When decluttering, pop painter’s tape right next to wall scuffs or nail holes as you slide furniture out. It’ll save you double the time when it’s time to touch up or paint!

🔗 Read the full room-by-room guide via the link in the first comment below!

Got the decluttering handled but want to skip the DIY paintbrush? Let Britt and the ColaTown Painting team handle the walls while you enjoy the quiet! 🎨✨

🏠 Ready for a Fresh Start?
Deciding when to update your home’s exterior and choosing the right color palette can feel like a high-stakes decision. After all, it’s the first impression your home makes!

Over time, even the best paint begins to fade and lose its protective qualities against the elements. A fresh coat of paint does far more than just improve curb appeal—it safeguards your home's exterior while giving it a clean, modern look that lasts for years. 🎨✨

If you’ve been thinking about modernizing your look, the current trends are all about timeless, welcoming palettes:

Warm Whites & Greiges: Softer, inviting tones that feel sophisticated without being sterile.

Crisp High-Contrast Accents: Pairing those lighter body colors with striking dark roofs, black painted trim, and modern accents.

Every great transformation starts with a solid plan and expert preparation. If your home is showing signs of wear or you’re just ready to fall in love with your curb appeal all over again, we would love to help.

🎨 The #1 Question We Get Before a Paint Job Starts...

You’ve spent weeks browsing Pinterest, collecting paint chips, and finally found the absolute perfect color. Decision made, right? Not quite! 🤔

There’s one critical question left that completely changes how that color looks on your walls: Which paint sheen should you choose?

Pick a finish that’s too shiny, and every minor wall flaw catches the light. Pick one that’s too flat for a busy hallway, and you’ll be scrubbing off scuff marks forever.

To save you the headache, we put together a quick, no-nonsense cheat sheet to match the right finish to every room:

✨ Semi-Gloss: Radiant and scrubbable. The absolute go-to for trim, baseboards, and doors. Also great for high-moisture kitchens and bathrooms!
🛋️ Satin: A rich, velvety finish. It handles cleaning like a champ and is perfect for high-traffic foyers, family rooms, and kids' bedrooms.
🥚 Eggshell: A soft, understated look with just a hint of luster. It does a fantastic job of hiding minor wall imperfections in living and dining rooms.
🛏️ Flat/Matte: Completely non-reflective. It acts like ultimate camouflage for ceiling flaws, master bedrooms, and low-traffic guest rooms.

Choosing the right sheen is a science, but you don't have to figure it out alone! Let the team at ColaTown Painting handle the hard work for you. No worries—we're on the job! 👍
