The September edition of Sounds Like a Plan is here!

The Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) released its draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), a four-year plan outlining transportation projects in Fayette and Jessamine Counties. The TIP covers a variety of projects, including roadway improvements, new sidewalks and shared-use trails, public transportation investments, safety improvements, and transportation studies. Together, these projects help guide how transportation funding is invested across our region. Read more about the draft and outreach efforts at the newsletter archive link in our bio!

Q3 Outreach Recap

Another few months of getting out into the community has been completed! This quarter, we’ve enjoyed meeting Lexington residents, stopping by civic events, and finding new ways to share what’s happening in planning. Whether we’re talking about ongoing projects or answering questions about how planning works, we love having the chance to connect with the community.

Thanks for making your voices heard and taking an interest in Lexington’s future. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity for conversations!

The Planning word of the day is “Activate,” to activate a space means to intentionally provide and arrange engaging amenities and uses such as places to eat, shop, or people-watch for a specific user group or the broader community. Activity should be sustained throughout the day, noting context-sensitive hours near residential areas, by a variety of uses: for example a bakery open in the morning, offices during the day, and restaurants in the evening.quality of life.
