Planning for a New Residence, or an Addition to an existing Home, it begins with attention to the Site, existing structures, and existing landscape. Additionally, the points of the compass often help direct the design of a Home, with Eastern light fot the Breakfast room and Kitchen, as well as Southern exposures for passive solar gains. Views to and from the Site are considered and will guide the

location of windows and doors to frame views of interest, and begin the process of integrating the Landscape with the Home. The style and overall "language" of the House design are often initially suggested by the Owners' preferences. Integrating the Owners' vision for both inside and outside of the House, is developed as a result of collaboration between the Design Team consisting of the Owner, the Designer, and if possible the Builder. Detailing interior features such as Kitchens, Baths, Stairs and even doorways and ceilings can quickly establish a character for the Home. The goal is to create a sense of the Home having been on the Site long before the Designer or Builder. Because these are not just Houses, but rather Homes for Clients and families perhaps for generations to come.
