Ready to plug in at home? This customer’s garage now has a hardwired GM Level 2 wall charger, making charging part of their everyday routine.

The builder’s electrician had installed a small subpanel for future use. Rather than keeping that panel and adding a charger beside it, the customer preferred a cleaner look. We replaced it with the wall charger, using the existing feed for a tidy installation with fewer connections.

The charger is supplied by a 60-amp circuit, with a maximum output of 48 amps to comply with continuous-load code requirements. Because the Level 2 EV wall charger has built in GFCI protection and is hardwired, it provides the required GFCI protection for the circuit.

We also installed a breaker lockout kit on the double-pole breaker at the outdoor electrical service, providing the required means to meet the new code and secure the circuit in the off position for servicing.

Details matter from how your charger is connected to how it looks in your garage. We take time to explain your options and help you find the right fit for your home and daily charging needs.

Your electrical service is the heart of your home’s power system, and the details matter.

For this property served by Oncor, we installed an underground fed 200 amp main breaker electrical service which includes a meter enclosure, grounding electrode system, intersystem bonding connection, and a type 1 whole home surge protection.

Because this property has multiple residences, clear identification was another important part of the job. We provided a permanent address and unit placard. Oncor specifies engraved or stamped stainless steel, aluminum, or brass, at least 12 gauge (2.0 mm) thick, with lettering at least ¼ inch tall.

From grounding and bonding to surge protection and clear labeling, we take pride in the details that help keep your electrical system safe, organized, and ready to serve your home.

Have questions about your electrical service? Give Freedom Electrical Solutions a call at 512-400-4157. We’d love to help!

Every home is different, and EV charging isn’t one size fits all. Panel location, available electrical capacity, breaker space, panel condition, and even a one story versus two story layout can affect your installation options and cost.

For this custom two story home, the customer chose a Level 2 wall charger supplied from their existing subpanel with load management. It automatically adjusts charging speed as other circuits use power, helping prevent an overload that could trip the subpanel’s main breaker. Charging won’t always run at full speed, but this option met their needs and budget while keeping the installation looking clean.

We’re Tesla Certified and trusted by several dealerships as their preferred electrical service company for EV charger installations. We explain the code compliant options, pricing, and tradeoffs so you can choose what works best for you. No pressure, we don’t twist arms.
