CUSTOM SUMMER COLOR | Built around the client's vision.

In this installation, JMR Fine Garden Manager Abbey Oscarson walks through a custom summer container designed around the client's preferred color palette: red, purple, and yellow.

Every element was selected with purpose. Mandevilla and canna provide height and structure, while geraniums, SunPatiens, petunias, and trailing sweet potato vine add seasonal color, texture, and movement throughout the composition.

The goal is never just to fill a container—it's to create a display that complements the property, reflects the client's preferences, and delivers impact throughout the summer season.

This is what custom seasonal color looks like—from design concept to installation. Do you need summer color on your property?

DESIGN OPTIONS | Four concepts. One property.

Here is a recent example of how our design team developed options for a client's front entry landscape.

After visiting the site and discussing the client's goals, our team began with hand sketches—studying the architecture, exploring proportions, and testing different container styles and planting palettes. From there, AI rendering tools helped bring those concepts to life so the client could better visualize each direction before decisions were made.

Same footprint. Same architecture. Four completely different outcomes. Which option would you choose?

Option A — Custom iron vine supports, or tuteurs, with a centered statement seasonal color container.

Option B — Three evenly spaced copper drum planters that develop character as the patina evolves over time.

Option C — Three matching dark urns selected to complement the home's window frames. Structured and formal.

Option D — A pair of classic stone urns set on decorative plinths. White flowering hydrangeas and groundcovers create a timeless composition.

TRUST | Built one interaction at a time.

This isn't a transaction for us. We are here for the long term.

A lot of what we do at JMR comes from referrals—architects, designers, builders, and clients who have trusted us over years of working together. That trust is earned one interaction at a time.

As Joey Rossa, JMR Founder and Owner, explains: “We could do 100 things right and one thing wrong, and that one thing may be the last thing someone remembers.” That is the standard we hold ourselves to on every property, every visit, every interaction.

The people on our team genuinely care about what they do. They love landscaping, they love serving clients, and they take pride in creating spaces people can enjoy for years to come.

PROJECT EVOLUTION | Built in phases. Guided by a plan.

Last winter, our team was on site installing granite cobble paving throughout this Libertyville property—establishing the framework that would support everything to come.

Now, the next phase is underway. Planting installations are bringing the vision to life, with JMR Landscape Architect Shannon M. working alongside the crew to fine-tune placement and ensure every tree, shrub, and perennial aligns with the original design intent.

The best landscapes are not built in a day—or even a season. They come together over time through thoughtful planning, skilled ex*****on, and attention to detail at every stage.

That is the JMR approach.

SUMMER COLOR | The next rotation is underway.

Summer color installations are underway across JMR-managed properties. Containers are refreshed, beds are prepared, and seasonal displays are updated to bring new energy and color to the landscape.

Plant selection is about more than appearance. Every variety is chosen for performance, heat tolerance, and its ability to thrive through the summer months—not just for how it looks on installation day.

When seasonal color is planned and maintained correctly, it becomes one of the most impactful features on a property. Trust JMR with your seasonal color.

COMMUNICATION | If our clients are coming to us with problems, we have failed.

Communication is everything in this industry—and it's often one of the biggest frustrations.

JMR Founder and Owner Joey Rossa reinforces this standard constantly: “We are only as good as our last interaction.” That means proactive communication, walking properties consistently, and identifying issues before the client ever has to ask.

Whether in design, account management or project management, the responsibility is the same—find the issues, provide solutions, and make the client experience easier at every step. That is the level of communication JMR works to deliver on every visit.

EVENINGS | Outdoor spaces should not stop at sunset.

Fire pit patios, outdoor kitchens, and integrated landscape lighting extend how a property is experienced after the sun goes down. When designed and executed correctly, outdoor environments become a true extension of the architecture—not just an addition to it.

These are the spaces where people gather, unwind, entertain, and spend the best hours of summer. Thoughtful outdoor living is not just about appearance—it changes how the home is experienced.

Summer in Chicagoland only gives us so many nights to enjoy spaces like these. Thoughtful outdoor environments help make the most of every one of them.

How does your property function after dark?

THE JMR TEAM | Built for the long term.

Spring cleanups are wrapping up. Mulch installations are moving weekly. Maintenance routes are fully underway, and construction is active across some incredible projects. Heading into 2026, JMR is carrying one of the strongest design backlogs in company history.

But what excites Founder and Owner Joey Rossa most is the team being built behind it all. JMR continues to invest in experienced, long-term people—individuals who bring knowledge, professionalism, and consistency to the client experience from day one.

Growth matters. But building the right team matters more.

COMPLETE EXPERIENCE | Every space working together.

Designed by Barker Evans Landscape Architecture and installed and managed by JMR, this Winnetka property was built as a fully connected outdoor experience—from the cobblestone driveway approach to the rooftop garden above.

Columnar trees, ornamental grasses, outdoor gathering spaces, rooftop planters, hardwood decking, and layered planting all working together as one cohesive landscape experience.

Long after installation, landscape management is what protects the original vision—guiding how the property matures, performs, and is experienced over time. That long-term continuity is a core part of the JMR approach.

PROPERTY EVOLUTION | Thoughtful changes with long-term purpose.

This transition began last fall with a collaborative walkthrough between the homeowner and JMR—evaluating what was working, what needed to change, and how the landscape could better support the way the client wanted to experience the property moving forward. Lower maintenance, improved privacy, and more intentional planting became the guiding priorities.

This season, that plan is taking shape—expanding lawn areas, refining bed lines, strengthening screening along the woodland edge, and continuing development around the pond with dogwoods, juniper, and native material selected with purpose.

Not one season. Not one visit. Long-term landscape stewardship means guiding a property over time. What does long-term property care looks like for your home?
