Switching to LED lighting can make a bigger difference than you think.

LED bulbs use significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and also last much longer.

That means:

* Lower energy use
* Less frequent bulb replacement
* Less heat produced by your lighting

ZAPPY’S SAFETY TIP OF THE DAY

Keep extension cords temporary.

Extension cords are meant for short-term use, not as permanent wiring. If you find yourself relying on one every day, it may be time to have a properly placed receptacle installed.

* Avoid running cords under rugs
* Don’t pinch cords behind furniture
* Replace damaged cords immediately

Zappy says: If you need a cord there all the time, you probably need an outlet there instead!

Zappy's Warning Sign of the Day

Do your lights flicker or dim for no obvious reason?
Occasional flickering may be something simple, but repeated flickering-especially in multiple rooms-can point to a loose connection, failing device, or another electrical issue.

When to call: If lights are flickering often, getting worse, or affecting more than one area of the home, it's a good idea to have the electrical system checked! I assure you, you don't have a ghost!

DID YOU KNOW?

A breaker that repeatedly keeps tripping is doing it's job? It's a warning that something on the circuit may be faulty or that the breaker is overloaded.

Repeatedly resetting the breaker without finding the cause can be a real electrical problem. If the same breaker keeps tripping, have it checked by a licensed electrician!
