These pictures were taken exactly 8 years apart.
The picture from 8 years ago is from when I gave up on my first attempt of an electrical business. In this picture I had just removed all of the vinyl lettering and graphics off of the truck. I was tired, defeated, frustrated and passive in many different ways. A lack of direction, lack of leadership, lack of focus and a lack of kingdom vision is essentially what did me in. From there, I took a job at GROB systems in Bluffton where I did troubleshooting on PLC’s, Robotics, and a lot of very cool other things that I had always dreamed of doing. I loved that job. It was where I wanted to be. But, it wasn’t where God wanted me to be.
I distinctly remember driving to GROB one day, seeking after God and asking Him if I should stay with GROB or if I should start my electrical business again. I can only remember maybe one time ever audibly hearing God’s voice answer me. However, It seemed that before I could get the whole question out of my mouth, He answered clear as day ”I never told you to quit”.
From that day I started the exit process from GROB and began working on a plan to restart an electrical contracting company. It has been a difficult and long road. We have had our ups and downs, employees have come and gone. We have been busy, we have been slow, we have had vans, we have sold vans, we have been focused, and leading, we have been unfocused and not leading, we have taken steps forward and we have definitely taken steps backwards.
The difference in the mindset today and the mindset over the last 3 years of Mikes Electric is that we are no longer going to be self serving, consumption driven, money focused company, we are now stepping with God, in faith, caring for and leading people, focused, moving forward toward kingdom goals..
This unmarked cargo van in the picture from today is a step of faith towards something amazing. We have been looking to hire an experienced and seasoned electrician for about 3 months now and we have come up with very few good prospects. In my prayer time I felt like God told me to buy a van and he then will bring the employee. In a way it felt like Noah and the Ark. Some people may say that it was a bad business decision, and had you asked me a month ago, I would have agreed with you. It definitely doesn’t make sense. But, we did it anyway! We are leaning on and believing in faith that God has it all taken care of and He will supply the right employee in the right time.
Thank you for all your love and support over the years! We are just getting started 😊
Be blessed!
