If you’re mowing your lawn shorter to “go longer between cuts,” stop. Cutting too short in summer stresses the grass, invites weeds, and ruins the root system. Let it grow, keep it thick, and mulch those clippings.

🚨 Please Read — This Could Save a Life 🚨

Our English bulldog, Cheesy, was killed by a reckless driver — while she was on a leash, crossing the road. This wasn’t a freak accident. This was caused by speeding, distraction, or impairment. And it was 100% preventable.

Cheesy wasn’t “just a dog.” She was family. She was loved deeply, every single day. And now, she’s gone — because someone behind the wheel didn’t care enough to slow down or pay attention.

This happens more than people realize. Pets are being killed. Families are being shattered. And in towns like ours, it gets brushed off. But it shouldn’t.

So here’s the message:
👉 If you can’t drive like a responsible adult, stay the hell off the road.
👉 Slow down.
👉 Put your phone away.
👉 Don’t drive drunk or high.

Cheesy’s life mattered. So does every pet, child, and person who crosses a street expecting drivers to do the bare minimum. Please — drive like lives depend on it. Because they do.

❄️I know it’s July… but some of you are already asking about snow plowing like it’s going to start snowing tomorrow. Respect.

Just a heads-up:
Grasshopper Lawn Care will be rolling out residential plowing service agreements sometime in early September — once the pumpkins are out and I’ve emotionally accepted that summer’s over.

Until then, enjoy the sun, mow your lawn, and know that winter chaos is already being quietly planned behind the scenes.

Questions? Shoot me a message — just don’t ask me what the Farmer’s Almanac says. I don’t trust that thing.

Why I Don’t Mow Wet Grass (aka "How to Wreck Your Yard in One Easy Step")

Look, I’d love to mow your lawn when it is soaking wet. Nothing screams "good time" like wet grass clogging the mower, turning your yard into a Slip ‘N Slide, and leaving behind clumps big enough to bail and hay.

But here’s the deal:

Wet grass doesn’t cut — it tears. Like, emotionally.

It clumps up, sticks to everything, and makes your yard look like it lost a bar fight.

The mower sinks in and leaves ruts like I tried plowing a potato field.

So yeah… I am waiting for it to dry out because I like your lawn. And my knees. And not breaking stuff.

Another One Down 💪
Today we took down a big old shed in Alfred, Maine — a no-frills wooden structure. Between me and my buddy, it was fully demoed in just 3.5 hours. Final weight? 3,260 pounds of wood, nails, and sweat.

Armed with a Sawzall, chainsaws, skill saws, and some hard-earned experience, we made it disappear.

On July 4, 1776, our nation declared its independence and began the long, hard road toward the freedoms we enjoy today. That freedom didn’t come easy — and it’s still protected every single day by the brave men and women who serve in our military.
