Bengals veteran QB Joe Flacco said he considered retirement after his benching in Cleveland.

“Yeah, of course [retirement crossed my mind]. It’s hard to distract yourself from those thoughts. I think you’re always getting bombarded by these negative thoughts. And, yeah, never playing football again is one of those thoughts. It’s definitely crossed my mind several different times in my career. Whether it was fear of ‘Am I ever going to play again?’ or myself saying, ‘What the h*** am I doing? Am I even having fun?’ Those thoughts have all come into my mind, and I’ve dealt with them all at one point or another,”

In four starts for the Browns, Flacco threw for 815 yards, 2 TD, and 6 INT with a 58.1 completion percentage. He was benched for Dillon Gabriel after the team’s 34-10 loss to the Lions.

Flacco, 40, was traded to the Bengals on October 7th and has made five starts for Cincinnati, throwing for 1,453 yards, 12 TD, and 3 INT with a 63.4 completion percentage.
