In ghost tapping, portable NFC-enabled devices are used to steal money from mobile wallets. (NFC stands for Near Field Communication — short-range wireless technology that allows devices to exchange data.) When close to your pocket or purse in crowded areas, thieves can trigger small, unauthorized charges to validate card data and steal funds without physical contact. To protect yourself, turn off NFC on your phone when not actively using it for payments also, purchase RFID protected wallets or purses. Keep your sensitive data safe!

July 4th is right around the corner, so let’s shoot off some fireworks trivia: 1) Fireworks were accidentally invented in China over 2,000 years ago when someone tossed green bamboo into a fire. The air pockets in the wood superheated and caused it to burst with a loud bang. 2) Walt Disney World is the largest consumer of fireworks in the entire world, spending around $50 million annually on their displays.
