Tiling can be tedious and at times even frustrating….

But doing a diamond pattern on 2x2 glass tile is heart stopping!!!

This will be beautiful when we are done for sure and the owners already love it.

Now I have people calling me about doing tile. I guess I’m getting back into it.

Something that I’m continuing to see is the lack of kick plates or risers on decking stairs. Have your ever hit your shin on a piece of wood and thought it felt good? Me neither.

Often times people wear shoes on decks so hitting your toe isn’t that big of a deal on steps because there is cushion.

But when there isn’t a kick plate on your steps your carpenter likely thinks that you could use just one more shin splint. 😂 It’s code where there are codes but because we don’t have codes in Linden I figured I would put it out there.

Sure it isn’t that big of a deal until your leg gets caught and you fall which is why it’s a code everywhere else. Because people get excited about stairs and decide to be a bit more careless with their feet.

And between you and I, it isn’t a problem for me to install them. As always, if you never hire me to do anything at least ask your carpenter to install them for you, let’s just minimize our risk while dishing out large sums of money. 💴

This ought to turn out beautifully!

This was the first shower that I ever tiled by myself.

Took years of cutting the tile and watching how to place it before I ever placed one myself.

I knew I could do it and I knew every detail to look for when doing it.

The tile have to line up with one another perfectly, back then this was difficult, now we have spacers that do it for us (that I have still never used 😂) I should probably try them out on the next tile job.

All of the bottom tile must line up perfectly. (That is one day of work that will go down the drain)

why? Because it needs to set up and be able to hold the tile you put above them and all of those tile need to line up so that when you go to install the mosaics (if there are mosaics) it looks perfectly uniformed.

Before you even tile you have to insure that the walls are straight up and down which is another day of work to make sure that the studs are straight. Because they usually never are.

You better check that the plumbing works before you cover it up with tile because it may not be easy to go in from the other side to fix potential leaks.

I used to think it was easy, and for me it was because I had a great teacher who was my father. All these little intricate details add up to a beautiful job well done that you will likely never see again except in pictures.

With each job you leave a piece of you behind.

That’s always been my father’s legacy.

Is it mine?

Only time will tell.

Feeling generous might only charge $2,500 per Celtic knot instead of $3,000 on the next deck. IDK 🤷

Funny story, I went to get a massage the other day and I was a 10/10 on knots in my entire body according to the masseuse. Lol

So the knots are causing me knots!!! 😂 🤣

I need to book another massage… muh body hurts!

So I needed a third person to complete this job in a timely manner because the client wanted it done before July 4th. And I knew that if it was just 1 helper and myself that we would have cut it close. So I decided to make a phone call to Denise Fair from “She Shop Dreams.”

I saw one picture of her cabinetry work and that was all I needed to go on. She took the lead on building these railing systems out and it turned out awesome. The cable system was way more difficult than it looks but it turned out awesome.

I was able to take care of everything else that needed to be done on this punch list so that we could get it done in a timely manner.

This is how I believe construction should be, instead of having competition, we should just hire the best people for the job. And Denise Fair was the best person for the job. If you need some carpentry work done, reach out to her. You’ll be glad you did.
