"America's blue-collar workforce may be one of the safest careers to have. As artificial intelligence threatens to automate away millions of white-collar positions, the very trades that were once dismissed as "dead-end jobs" are emerging as the economy's most recession-proof careers.
The 40 most vulnerable occupations—translators, historians, sales representatives, and other desk-bound professionals—employ roughly 11 million Americans. Meanwhile, the 40 least vulnerable positions—heavy equipment operators, roofers, electricians, and similar hands-on roles—currently employ about 5.5 million workers.
The irony of our AI revolution is that it requires massive physical infrastructure that only human hands can build and maintain. Every AI query runs on servers housed in data centers that need electricians, HVAC technicians, and construction workers.
For decades, American culture has pushed college as the only path to middle-class prosperity while stigmatizing manual labor as somehow lesser work. This cultural bias persists even as plumbers and electricians often out-earn college graduates saddled with student loans.
As artificial intelligence transforms the American workforce, one truth is emerging: the future will favor not those who mimic machines, but those who offer what machines can't—deeply human skills.
In a world racing toward automation, this is a powerful reminder that some roles still demand the irreplaceable human touch."

The irony of our AI revolution is that it requires massive physical infrastructure that only human hands can build and maintain.

Cheers to 35 years of hard work – a true testament of what can be achieved through passion & sacrifice, perseverance & resilience! From our humble beginnings in 1989 to 2024, here’s to our journey.

Thank you to all those who have supported us along the way – our family & friends, our employees (both past & present), subcontractors & suppliers, as well as to our loyal builders & homeowners for trusting us as your go to poured wall/foundation crew, we couldn’t have done it without you.

In 2021, Forbes magazine reported that roughly 20% of small businesses fail within their first year of opening. After five years, half of companies go out of business and only about 30% make it to year ten. I also read that only 5% of small businesses survive longer than 30 years.
So, yes, we’re very PROUD of the fact that 2024 marks our 35th year in business!

Here are some other statistics you might find interesting:
• 40% of businesses fail within the first three years
• 50% of businesses fail within five years
• 65% of businesses fail within 10 years
• 75% of businesses fail within 15 years
• Nearly 80% of businesses fail within 20 years

Some challenges small businesses in Michigan face in 2024:
• Increased costs - 93% of small businesses in Michigan say they're experiencing higher than normal cost increases
• Labor availability - 200,000 jobs in Michigan are still unfilled, even though most businesses are offering higher wages, benefits, and flexibility

So, if you see Tom around – congratulate him & wish him a happy anniversary – and maybe encourage him to take a day off 😂. He truly is the hardest working man I know.
He was just 22 years “young” when he ventured out on his own, newly married with a baby on the way. 35 years later, we have two grown & married daughters & 5 grandchildren & counting …. 🥰
Grateful & Blessed for sure✨🙏💕

Shout out to all our friends, family and business relationships for all your hard work & successes with your small businesses. And I’ll go ahead a toot our own horn & especially my hard working hubby, Tom, as well. 2024 marks our 35th year in business!

SHOUT OUT to all the small business owners out there hustling to make it happen!

03/02/2024

Not my/Tom’s words - but so true they could be.

Next time you say "damn, must be nice" you might want to understand a lifestyle that made it possible!

8-5 didn't make it.
Parking on the couch to watch TV didnt make it.
Sleeping in on Saturdays didnt make it.
Calling in when sick didnt make it.
Being content with where we're at didnt make it.

It came from some 15-20 hour days.
It came from beating the sun up.
It came from working on weekends.
It came from sacrificing family time.
It came from wanting a little better tomorrow.

These are a few things to consider before you throw out "damn, must be nice" at someone! We are all products of our competence. And extra efforts are what make the biggest differences at the end of the day!

As we celebrate our 34th year of marriage & take a little trip down memory lane – we also near the mark of 34 years in business which Tom officially started in November of 1989 at just 22 years “young”.

This trip down memory lane is a reminder of all the hard work and perseverance, where it all began to where we are now. Was it easy – No Way! But the REWARDS are so GREAT.

So today on our 34th wedding anniversary & on the verge of our 34th complete year of business, I’m taking a moment to reflect and express true GRATITUDE for this life we have together.

Many don't really know where it all began esp our business relationships – we met in school, yes high school sweethearts, married & started this business & life together. Tom took a leap of faith and had the courage to start his own business from the ground up with basically nothing but a "drive", the hardest work ethic I have ever known & full of confidence. I think back to then, how much faith & belief Tom's dad must have had in his young son - 22 years old at the time with his offer to help him - lending him money – money from his own retirement fund at the time. As well as the suppliers & others we still work with to this day to offer us credit on supplies and materials etc.
(I admit I was scared and very unsure, I play it safe, he's the risk taker - guess that's why we make a good team.....still )

Check out our first home - that little trailer was also our first daughter’s (Jessie 1990) first home. Daughter #2 (Jen 1992) came along shortly after we moved into our current house we made into a home.
Since then we’ve gained 2 son in laws (2014, 2016), welcomed 2 “bonus” grandsons (now age 16), and became grandparents in 2017 with the arrival of our grandson (& Tom's namesake) Tommy, followed a few months later by our granddaughter Brynn and last but certainly not least – our little silly & sassy Lilly came along in 2019. Blessings galore

T. Stone Foundations sponsored a hole at an epilepsy awareness outing. Our grandson Tommy was diagnosed with epilepsy at the end of last year.
This outing was for a young local girl to raise money for a service dog.
Our cousins and uncle golfed in the outing.
