We’re continuing to explore conceptual designs for this mixed use project in Pine Bluff. For the restaurant we’re taking inspiration from one of our favorite spots in NYC - Balthazar, in SoHo. A celebrated French bistro and bar. This inspiration is the genesis for what we see as a renaissance for Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Another project on our boards right now that will reimagine an underdeveloped corner of downtown Pine Bluff, Arkansas. This mixed use development will include a new cafe and bakery, upscale restaurant focusing on local cultural culinary experiences, and a boutique hotel.

Adaptive reuse is a specific speciality of ours. Our ability to understand existing construction, especially unreinforced masonry and heavy timber, is critical to identifying limitations of a structure where budget concerns are a driving factor.

There isn’t anything inherently special about these images. However these images were crucial in conveying a part of the design intent for a project of ours in DC, DuPont Circle, which backs up to Rock Creek Park.

Hiring an architect who understands the intricacies of historic review (in this case both HPRB and CFA) is critical to your success with any remodel or addition.

Today we secured staff level approval from both organizations because we were able to effectively display compliance through accurate drawings and line-of-sight photos.

Creating more vibrant and inclusive neighborhoods isn't difficult and it doesn't have to be unaffordable either. In our work we try to use common materials in uncommon ways to express our modern designs. Here we've combined three conceptual designs for compact modern homes to create a streetscape that would be acceptable in any suburban neighborhood across the country. Traditional building forms, traditional materials, modern design, modern living.

And finally the third option. A little larger than the others at about 1,800 square feet, but ideal for thin suburban lots in downtown residential areas at only 17 feet in width. Still wonderfully functional, and architecturally unique.

These design exercises show us the power of good design and how architects can help add value to what might otherwise be very mundane and uninteresting spec homes.
