We’ve been up to some good! We’ve been working on building a better chicken coop! I’m excited to have the coop a little lower on our property and allow the chickens to enjoy the cooler shade the forest provides. By expanding the chicken area, this will allow us to raise more fresh eggs from the farm and provide the community with locally grown food.

What a wonderful week we’ve had so far. Yesterday we went to bingo that Urban Patchwork hosted and it was wonderful to connect with community!

Today’s weather was lovely, and felt much needed after that hot spell. The kid and I got outside and weeded a good amount of Lagos Spinach from the garden to make room for some fall planting. We’ve been getting tons of tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and okra coming out of the garden recently.

I am looking forward to this fall when we can start building our new resource shelter! If you are looking for a way to give back to your community please reach out.

Friends! We’ve been a bit busy around here. We’ve been getting tons of cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. I’ve been working on preserving them this week because of the heat and my foot’s been giving me troubles. My work with Arkansas Interfaith Power and Light has come to an end, so I’ll be able to focus on the Lazy Lizard Co-op a bit more. Looking to the future, I have 2 construction projects I’m hoping to accomplish before the winter. 👷‍♀️🔨🧱 One is a new chicken coop a little further away from our house and the other is a new resource shelter! A community member stopped in today to chat about it! He will be helping draw out my vision and helping me piece it together! Be on the lookout for a volunteer day coming up! I am so excited to be able to give to the community again. 😊 We can’t tackle tough problems without working and supporting each other💪 If you would like to volunteer your time or have something we could use, please reach out!

This guy sure is pretty! Too bad he’s gunna be dinner this weekend.

Today we are working on cutting spent sunflower heads for seed saving and making trellises out of the stems for beans or peas. 🙂 🫛

If you want some lemon balm or spearmint, message me! I’ll be working on cutting this later today to dry it out for tea or tinctures. I’m looking forward to the winter when I have more time to make some lemon balm luffa soaps! 🫧

Community, it’s with a sad heart I let you know that the community fridge will be coming down tomorrow morning. Do not fret though! There are better bigger things to come. If you would like to help build a new community resource shelter, we are seeking volunteers and donations.

We have started to work with Urban Patchwork is a 501(c)3 non profit that promotes sustainable, community-driven solutions to socioeconomic challenges that make it difficult for Arkansans to engage in the local food economy.
