Every career starts with taking that first step.

Meet Kenneth Thornton, one of Lexicon's apprentices. After finding an opportunity on Indeed, he joined the team looking for a way to get his foot in the door. Since then, he's gained hands-on experience, learned to operate new equipment, and developed skills he never expected to learn.

"I didn't think I'd be able to do that."

At Lexicon, our apprenticeship program is about more than learning a trade. It's about building confidence, developing new skills, and creating opportunities for the future.

Steel is all around us, but have you ever wondered where it comes from?

It all starts with iron ore, a natural resource mined from the earth. Iron is extracted and combined with a small amount of carbon to produce steel, one of the strongest and most versatile materials used in construction. Today, steel is also made using recycled steel scrap, which is melted down and transformed into new steel without sacrificing its strength or quality.

From bridges and manufacturing facilities to stadiums and industrial plants, steel helps build the infrastructure we rely on every day.

At Lexicon, we're proud to take that raw material and turn it into the fabricated steel that helps build America's future. Every beam, column, and structure represents the craftsmanship, quality, and teamwork behind what we do.

That's the power of steel. That's the power of Building America.

As we close out this year’s August mental health campaign, Strong as Steel: Building Mental Might, we want to leave you with a message from Lexicon CEO Patrick Schueck.

“This isn’t another HR initiative because it is the popular thing to do. This is about our people. This is about saving lives.”

While this year’s campaign may be coming to a close, Strong as Steel continues year-round. Mental health doesn’t follow a calendar, and neither does our commitment to supporting our people.

Keep the conversation going. Check on each other. Ask the hard questions and listen when someone needs to talk. Most importantly, remember that you don’t have to face a difficult time alone.

People. Quality. Safety. Innovation.

At Lexicon, our values aren't just words on a wall. They're the foundation of every project, every partnership, and every decision we make.

People come first because great work starts with great teams.

Quality means doing the job right and standing behind the work we deliver.

Safety is a value that guides every task, every day, because nothing is more important than making sure everyone goes home safely.

Innovation drives us to find better ways to solve challenges, embrace new technology, and keep building what's next.

These values have shaped Lexicon for more than 50 years, and they continue to define who we are as an employee-owned company.

They're more than our values. They're how we build.
