The work we do is about more than buildings.

It's about creating safe, comfortable spaces where students can learn, educators can teach, and communities can thrive.

We're honored to receive recognition from Widefield School District 3 for the dedication and exceptional service provided by our Colorado Springs team. From the field crews completing the work to the project teams helping coordinate it all, this recognition highlights the difference people can make when they care deeply about the communities they serve.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping prepare these school facilities for the start of a new school year. We are proud of the impact you make both on and beyond the jobsite.

When people think about building systems, they often think about equipment, technology, and infrastructure.

But for the people who learn, teach, and work inside those buildings every day, the impact is much more personal.

We're proud to share recognition from Zach Richard, Assistant Operations Officer-Facilities for Widefield School District 3, recognizing the dedication and professionalism of our Colorado Springs team. The letter highlights the efforts of LONG employees who worked to help ensure district facilities were safe, comfortable, and operational ahead of the new school year.

From service technicians and installers to project managers, sales teams, and leadership, this recognition reflects what happens when people come together around a shared purpose: supporting the places where communities learn, work, and grow.

Thank you to our Colorado Springs team for the impact you make every day.

If you're looking for a career where your work helps strengthen communities beyond the jobsite, explore opportunities with LONG.

When designing VRF and VRV systems in cold climates, there are a few things that must be taken into consideration:

1. Outdoor unit location
2. Low ambient cooling (cooling below 23° F)
3. Altitude De-rate

In a recent series covering VRV best practices, our partners at Daikin joined us to explore these design considerations.

In the clip below, we take a quick dive into one of them: outdoor unit location. Check out the video to learn some Dos and Don’ts and prepare for natural events like hail, wind, and snow that won’t show up on plans.

Nurse call systems should be more than just a button by a bedside – they should be a unified platform that improves operations and workflows, enhances patient care and safety, and integrates seamlessly with other facility systems.

Rauland nurse call systems do all this, and more. Hospitals and healthcare facilities should choose Rauland if:

• Alarm fatigue and notification overload are contributing to nurse burnout
• Your facility lacks a centralized communication and workflow platform
• You need to improve HCAHPS scores to protect VBP reimbursement
• You want real-time analytics to support staffing and operational decisions
• You are planning a multi-system integration that includes RTLS, access control, or BAS

With Rauland, you’ll get a single source of truth for communications and security so you can spend more time focusing on patient care.

Reach out to your LONG Alaska rep to see how Rauland nurse call systems can fit into your facility.

If your facility is still running on a legacy DDC (Direct Digital Control) system, it may be costing you more than you realize.

Aging DDC systems can limit visibility, increase maintenance costs, create cybersecurity risks, and lock you into one vendor. The solution to these problems: migrating to the Tridium Niagara Framework.

The key benefits of Niagara include:

1. Open-protocol architecture: connect devices from virtually any vendor.
2. Centralized visibility: a single dashboard gives you real-time operational data across every system and site.
3. Cyber-secure connectivity: improved security to protect your building network and data.
4. Scalability: add new devices, sites, or integrations without replacing core infrastructure.
5. Energy optimization: identify inefficiencies and reduce energy consumption.

LONG a certified Tridium integrator with deep experience guiding facilities through this transition with minimal disruption to your operations. We'll work with you to assess your current environment, plan a phased migration, and make sure your team is set up for success from day one.

Efficient and reliable HVAC systems are crucial to hospitals and healthcare facilities for compliance, operations, and patient health. Enabling an FDD (Fault Detection and Diagnostics) platform can help ensure efficient system performance and prevent failures that impact patient care.

An FDD platform acts as a continuous commissioning tool for healthcare facilities. It can:

1. Improve patient safety and infection control.
2. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Prevent expensive downtime in critical systems.
4. Reduce energy waste and operational costs.
5. Enable data-driven, proactive facility management.

When heat pump projects fail, it’s rarely due to the equipment alone but rather from problems with system design, controls, and commissioning. Here are some common things teams can do to make sure these projects succeed:

1. Early coordination and collaboration with engineers, manufacturers, and controls programmers ensures proper design from the start.
2. Keep the system as simple as the load allows and don’t push beyond operating ceiling.
3. Set simple and appropriate controls sequences and don’t treat heat pumps the same as boilers.
4. Support seasonal commissioning as system behavior changes across summer and winter.

Contact your LONG sales engineer for assistance on heat pump projects and make sure you’re set up to succeed.

For more on this topic, view the video below to see a panel from AHR 2026 discuss how heat pump projects fail and how to make them successful. Thank you to Automated Buildings for hosting this panel and to our Colorado Sales Manager James Murphy for participating!

At LONG Building Technologies, we believe innovation is about creating opportunities for everyone.

Recently, LONG employees and their children participated in a Clark’s Toy Workshop Modification Event, where they learned how to adapt toys to make play more accessible for children with disabilities. Clark’s Toy Workshop modifies toys so they can be activated through accessible switches, helping children engage more independently in play, learning, and exploration.

What made this event special was seeing families come together to use their hands, creativity, and problem-solving skills to support a meaningful cause. Every modified toy represents more than a technical adjustment—it represents inclusion, accessibility, and the opportunity for a child to experience the joy of play.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference in the lives of children and families in our communities.

Summer is almost over. Is your school prepared to prevent va**ng?

The HALO Smart Sensor is designed to monitor environments. It detects va**ng, ni****ne, or THC smoke in real-time and alerts administrators of potential risks or air quality concerns. And because it’s camera-free, it can be used in privacy areas, such as bathrooms or locker rooms.

Like many K-12 facilities, if you’re struggling with v**e or smoke prevention, the HALO sensor could be the right solution for your school.

Our Washington Security Solutions team is well-versed in the benefits of HALO sensors. Contact our team today and see how these sensors can help you maintain healthier, safer spaces.

Busy season takes a team.

It’s early mornings on job sites, staying connected between the field and the office, and stepping in to support each other when priorities shift. It’s a fast paced time of year where teamwork and communication make all the difference.

Behind every project are people putting in the time and effort to keep things moving and to make sure customers are supported.

The long days
The flexibility
The teamwork that keeps everything on track

We see it, and we appreciate it.

We are grateful for the teams across LONG Building Technologies who show up and make this work happen every day.
