Most older gutter systems are installed using gutter spikes — long nails driven through the front lip of the gutter, through a hollow ferrule, and into the fascia board. While this was once the standard installation method, spikes are known to loosen over time due to seasonal expansion, contraction, wind, and water weight.
As they back out, gutters can begin to sag, pull away from the home, and stop draining properly. Upgrading to hidden hangers and screws provides a much stronger, longer-lasting attachment that helps keep your gutter system secure and functioning the way it should. 🔨💧
