Buying a home or land this fall? Your lender or title company will often ask for a survey before closing.

A mortgage survey shows:
• Where the property lines are
• Where the house, shop, fences and driveway sit on the lot
• Easements that cross the property
• Anything that crosses a line, like a neighbor's fence or shed

Fall is a good time to find your property lines.

Cooler weather is on the way this week, and the leaves are starting to come down. As the brush thins out, old fence lines, marked trees and corner pins that were hidden all summer get easier to spot.
