Jeannette Architects has enjoyed an amazing 25 years helping nearly 900 families from Malibu to Newport Beach and neighboring states. After sharing wonderful experiences with wonderful coworkers, Jeff and Roberta are looking forward to slowing down, visiting their kids and continuing to contribute to the Long Beach community in other ways.

We’re honored to have been an integral part of the architecture & construction industry, helping local businesses through referrals and partnerships. You helped make us who we are and we appreciate your collaboration.

Thank you to everyone who hired us to design your homes. Jeannette Architects sincerely appreciates the trust you put in us to guide you and wish you a lifetime of wonderful memories that bring you pride and happiness in your homes.

Jeannette Architects had the opportunity to find a permanent home in 2018 when a classic 1976 Gibbs & Gibbs designed building on Redondo came up for sale. They happily became the stewards of a Modern flat-roofed, glass and heavy timber building with an extensive pond, knowing it required heavy maintenance.

Continuing our mission to craft beautiful designs and guide our clients through construction, we enjoyed designing your home in our new home until…March 2020.

Our team was running smoothly when Covid hit. We stayed safe, worked from home and learned to design and collaborate via Zoom, because families realized their homes were too cramped. Jeannette Architects helped over 75 families with renovations and expansions, experiencing our busiest year ever.

In 2012, after outgrowing their home office, Jeannette Architects leased a larger space on Temple Ave. With a staff of nine, we crafted a Mission Statement to clearly define who we wanted to be as a firm, and a Foundation of Values to guide our ethics in practice and relationships.

We wanted the community to trust Jeannette Architects through reliability, competence, honesty, and share our expertise in diverse ways. Jeff has sat on Historic Preservation councils, Sustainability Resource boards & award programs. He’s given presentations on Sea Level Rise & ADU’s to real estate groups and investors. In addition, we helped craft the original City of Long Beach ADU Submittal Guidelines. Jeannette Architects also contributed to schools, sports teams, local fundraisers and other community events.

In 2000, Jeff started a website and 3D modeling firm, AxisStudio. Working out of their Long Beach garage with their dog Kelty, he moved away from architecture.

2 years later, he realized architecture was his passion but wanted to focus his attention on designing modest homes for young, growing Long Beach families. Listening intently to their challenges, he crafted designs that solved their living needs.

In 2006, Jeff and Roberta designed their own home, moving in with their first son, and adding a second, only 10 days later. Their concrete block, steel and glass home with a central courtyard embodies their aesthetic of environmentally conscious design. It’s Green Certified, near Net Zero Energy, and became a test case for materials and products before introducing them to clients.

They included an office with room for employees, and Jeannette Architects was born.

By age 8, Jeff wanted to be an architect. Watching his father design large, million dollar homes, his exposure to architecture began early. Sure, he played with blocks and Legos and loved drawing, but he also helped build his family home and others, during high school. This helped Jeff develop a deep understanding of the trade while learning real world construction detailing.

While at the University of Arizona, he worked at several architectural firms and met his best friend, Roberta, a Chicagoan and fellow architect. After graduating in ‘94, Jeff worked in his father’s firm and married Roberta in 1995.

After 25 years and almost 900 projects, Jeannette Architects is retiring. Earlier this year we stopped accepting new projects and began our sunsetting plan. Our goal is to finish strong and guide current clients through move-in, so we’ll be around for a while.

For a quarter century, our ambition has always been to craft excellent designs to help families live easier in their homes. We’re honored that our designs, paired with highly detailed construction drawings, helped streamline construction and brought smiles to our clients and community.

Follow us as we share the story of our journey over the next few weeks.

We transformed a Post-War stucco home into this Craftsman dream home for a couple in Long Beach. Bifold doors open the kitchen to a dining patio while the rear yard California Room houses a bar, BBQ, smoker, and lounge to enjoy our beautiful Southern California afternoons
