Rebuilding Together Pacific County Washington

Yesterday, We had our first Preventive Maintenance Workshop. We had Lani Karvia from Pacific County Fire District #1 teach us how to make our homes safe. Matt Kelley from Orkin told us how to keep the pests out and what signs to look for. Don Parsons from State Farm Insurance told us what things Insurance companies look for to determine if they can insure your home. Larry Raymer, retired maintenance supervisor for assisted living buildings and home rentals, with using help from Quick Response Drain Clean and a retired appliance repair man, talked about all the filters and vents that need to be kept clean, keeping water from creating big expensive problems and much more. Those who attended agreed that it was well worth the time invested and very helpful. We are already thinking of making this an annual event!

You know that Rebuilding Together is working every day to create safer homes for our neighbors.

Today, the U.S. is facing a shortage of 4.7 million affordable homes.

At the same time, millions of existing homes need critical repairs to remain safe, accessible and affordable.

Our country’s approach to affordable housing isn’t getting us anywhere. We can’t build our way out of it if we let the affordable homes we already have quietly disappear from our communities. We know that you believe in our mission and we want more people like you to join us.

That’s why we’re taking this message to social media with a new campaign; Fix18.

We want everyone to know that for the same cost as building one new home, Rebuilding Together can fix 18 homes and keep our neighbors in their homes and communities they love.

*Please note this is a National Campaign. The numbers in each community is somewhat different, but the basic concept is the same. We want to keep the houses we have livable, not just build new homes. *
