BAS1S Architecture and Design Services We believe great design is taking something complex and finding simple solutions.

It's the more difficult path to take, but it results in buildings that are more functional, more easily understood, and will stand the test of time. We can help you define your 1 thing, integrate it through your architecture and make it shine.

We have long advocated for affordable and workforce housing in communities. Therefore, we are proud to be working with Wildfire Development to design and build a community of workforce housing, townhomes and single family homes in Estes Park.

The project began in 2018 when we started the land planning and design with an emphasis on a seamless integration into the surrounding development patterns. Forty workforce condos and 13 townhomes have been constructed to date, with an anticipated completion of the 128 total units in 2025.

With a variety of floor plans in each workforce condo, residents can find the perfect home that fits their lifestyle and needs. Wildfire is designed by community members for community members.

The project aims to create a diverse neighborhood and support people who often have to live elsewhere and commute long distances to work. Living locally helps people be more connected within communities and reduces turnover in critical local jobs such as teaching, policing and other supportive employment.

In 2023 we had the opportunity to work on several housing projects that will provide homes for essential workers and vulnerable populations. The Hover project is one of those. With approvals in hand, the developers will be starting the building process on an infill lot. The location is ideal: green space on two sides, connection to Longmont's extensive bike trail, and half a block from a major bus route. It’s also close to services with schools, a hospital, grocery stores, retail businesses and city park less than a mile and a half from the development. The project serves as a transition from adjacent residential neighborhoods to the north and east and commercial development on the west and south. We look forward to projects like these coming to fruition in 2024! For more details, visit https://bas1s.com/projects/1886-hover/

Not all glass ceilings are bad. In this case a glass ceiling was the creative solution to saturate a unique space with light. The glass room was part of a recently completed remodel and addition to a Longmont home designated as a historic landmark. Phase one consisted of updating the existing building to return it to its original form–the most impactful being the exterior replacement of the vinyl siding. Phase two is where the real work commenced. The addition encompassed three unique spaces sandwiched between the small original house and the detached garage in the back. This is a great story about one of our clients, Bird & Jim and Melissa Strong and the evolution of how the restaurant came to be. The connections in this story are many. BAS1S Principal Architect Steve Lane hails from Massachusetts as well and had a calling from the mountain west, settling in Estes Park around the same time as the owner. He met a girl from Wyoming while here and made Colorado his forever home. We are so proud to have been involved with such a cultural asset to this place we love.

Cowboy State Daily stop by and enjoyed Bird & Jim!
