There is a story that is told in the lowly barrios of Laredo, Texas; about a man who endured suffering and affliction, in which, only by the grace of God, he was able to rise above it.
You see, Augie came to know firsthand the love of God through his sufferings as he endured manual labor as a Lawn Care Technician. Out there in the green fields, exposed to the elements of extreme heat, and having no shade where he could rest. These were the arduous working conditions in that dry arid place.
It was there that Augie first came to know what it was to thirst after God like a deer pants after the water brooks. It was there that instead of throwing in the towel and giving up, he pressed deeper even still. Instead of cursing God and passing out and whimpering out, Augie learned how to praise God in the midst of his circumstances, It was there that he came face to face with a loving God. And because Augie did not curse God in all this, God blessed him with Supernatural Mexican Strength (SMS). It was at that moment and in that place that a Legend was born.
You see, Augie knew first hand that he was born for affliction, he was born to suffer, and that he was destined for greatness, because the scriptures clearly told him, “To this, you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.” 1 Peter 2:21
