Why are service industry prices so high lately?
Because the cost of everything behind the scenes has gone up — not just the labor you see.
Service businesses pay for:
• Insurance (skyrocketing across all trades)
• Fuel and vehicle maintenance
• Tools, equipment, and materials
• Licensing, training, and certifications
• Workers’ comp and payroll taxes
• Scheduling, admin, and customer support
• Warranty and call‑back coverage
• Overhead that keeps the business alive
Most people only see the hour or two of work on-site. They don’t see the 10–15 hidden costs that make that hour possible. Good service companies aren’t charging “high prices” — they’re charging sustainable prices that allow them to show up, do quality work, and stand behind it.
