From Severe Black Algae to a Beautiful Pool Again!
➡️ Swipe to see the transformation
This pool had a widespread black algae infestation that had become deeply embedded in the plaster. Unlike common green algae, black algae penetrates porous pool surfaces, making it one of the most difficult forms of algae to remove.
To restore this pool, we:
✔️ Drained the pool
✔️ Performed a professional chlorine wash to eliminate algae and bacteria
✔️ Completed an acid wash to remove surface staining
✔️ Sanded the plaster to remove remaining staining and calcium buildup
Why is black algae a serious problem?
• It penetrates deep into plaster surfaces, making it resistant to standard chemical treatments.
• It can damage your pool’s finish if left untreated.
• It spreads over time, turning a small problem into a costly pool virus.
The best defense against black algae is routine maintenance and addressing it early. If you notice stubborn black spots that won’t brush away, it’s time to have your pool evaluated.
If your pool is showing signs of black algae, our team has the experience and equipment to restore it back to what it should always look like!
