Kids these days!!!
this photo showed in a post by someone asking "what in the world is this?"

Ask yer dad,
or yer grampa
Or, go back to the couch an' play video games.
just don't touch electrical stuff you have never seen before.
Some things may not kill you but they might hurt, a lot.

Copied photo so I apologize for the rant but I actually do get silly inquiries sometimes

You kids at home,,,, DON't DO THIS!!!!

this work was done under observation of a licensed electrical contractor and inspected by state of NM but the work was not done by a qualified or otherwise inteligent enough electrical worker.

there is NO excuse for only using plastic anchors and shallow screws on a wall that has new stucco over old (likely with insulation added) the result of using plastic anchors on this type of wall construction is that there is not enough substance to the wall so thusly not enough holding power.

the panels are fastened to the wall. each is 640 mm wide x 480 mm tall. we have completed installing the power cords and have plugged in all the data cables so John is seen here snapping the LED tiles in place. there 54 panels and each has 6 tiles which multiplies out to a lot of boxes of tiles. each tile requires a power plug and a ribbon cable plug to be connected and then the magnets adjusted so that the tile sits flat and the evidence of the seam between them can be least visible as possible.

we had 4 power circuits installed for the array and 1 for the equipment rack. each panel may consume as much as 140 watts but I hope less since 14 panels might consume 80 % of the 20 amp circuit.

There are 18 data cables (3 panels per port) running through a sleeve in the wall to be connected to ports on the Video Processor chassis in the equipment rack.

my neighbor is asking me for help because it is seasonal cooking time and they may blow the fuse. I asked if he was aware of what I call the Green Acres approach to time sharing of appliances:

At the house, Oliver assigns every electrical device a number from one to seven in an effort to keep their creaky generator from blowing. All gadgets up to a...

In the 2023 NEC, spaces that surround cannabis materials considered to emit vapors or gases are to be counted as classified (fire or explosion hazard) locations with respect to the rules surrounding the installation of electrical wiring and equipment.

Just as locations containing fuel vapors must abide by the strict requirements from Chapter 5 of the NEC, so must all locations responsible for producing, refining, packaging, or storing flammable oils.

This includes the oil derived during the legal processing of cannabis plants.

To address the uptick in the cannabis industry, brand-new to the 2023 NEC is Article 512, Cannabis Oil Equipment and Cannabis Oil Systems Using Flammable Materials. The intent of this new Article is to keep workers and personnel safe around flammable cannabis oils.
