The finish you see isn’t always the detail that matters most for HVAC maintenance.
Take a return-air grille: its painted metal face is visible in the room, but the filter behind it does the work of catching airborne particles. When comparing replacement filters, focus on the size and type the system accepts—not whether the visible grille has a particular finish. A filter that doesn’t fit properly can let air bypass its edges; one that’s too restrictive for the system can affect airflow. A qualified HVAC professional can help assess what’s appropriate for the equipment.
Universal Heating & Air offers the Universal HVAC Comfort Care Plan, a monthly maintenance membership. If you’re considering it, ask which maintenance tasks and filter-related work are included; the membership name alone doesn’t specify those details. Do you know what filter your system uses?
