UC RIVERSIDE STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER

Anchored at the northeast corner of the intersection of two key campus axes, the Student Success Center frames a visual corridor for each mall, creating a central campus hub for gathering and intellectual conversation.

The landscape design blends into the surrounding environment by creatively utilizing campus standard planting palettes and hard scape paving materials, and carefully designing outdoor spaces with programs that will encourage students and faculty to enjoy the Southern California climate from all sides of the building.

Sustainable, creative, and integrated storm water mitigation design, low maintenance landscape design in highly activated outdoor space, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections transform the campus with excitement for students and faculties.

Located next to Bryant Park, a glamorous urban open space, this theoretical project reflects the daily life of a New Yorker. The thought experiment, robust in its complexity of urban engagement, reflects a design firm’s responsibility to society.

Manhattan Forest is a sanctuary where one can lose their self from the surroundings. It is a refuge, a hiding place, and a forest. The materials choses underwent extensive research, inspired by the infrastructure of the site itself and informing the layout of the above ground ‘Binocular Landscape’. In addition to dense bamboos and colorful azaleas, the project utilizes familiar site elements such as manholes, metal grating, industrial sheet metal, underground pipes, structural beams, and utility caps to create a place that truly embodies a synthetic “Manhattan Forest“.

ASLA SoCal 2013 Design Awards - “Landscape Arts” Category

Through over eighty 3D computer models and in house 3D printings, the final shapes of four “voids” were created to build approximately 13’-16’ x 17’-20’ non-linear planters, each weighing approximately 40,000lbs - 45,000lbs
