The future Limelight Charleston.

Designed as part of George & Society, the building brings a contemporary hospitality presence to Charleston’s Upper Peninsula while drawing from the scale, rhythm and material character of the city.

Deep openings, masonry, shade and a measured street wall give the architecture weight without imitating Charleston’s historic vocabulary.

Now under construction.

Construction is underway at George & Society in Charleston.

The project is conceived as two buildings with distinct architectural identities, each responding to a different street and condition within the city.

THIS IS GEORGE.

Facing George Street, the architecture is more formal and urban — defined by masonry, vertical proportion, deep openings and shadow.

Rather than reproduce historic Charleston, the building works from the principles that give the city its character and permanence.

A contemporary building, grounded in its place.

A 22-unit residential building organized around a central courtyard. The street elevation uses a repeated system of arches and deep openings to give depth and rhythm to the façade, while the courtyard brings light, landscape and shared space into the center of the building.

The smaller rooms are often where a house develops its character.

At Hidden Ridge Residence, warm wood, natural stone and handmade tile carry the architectural language into the more intimate spaces of the home.

A house should feel considered at every scale.

From the way rooms connect to the landscape to the character of smaller, more intimate spaces, we approach architecture and interiors as one continuous project.

Proportion, natural light, material and detail come together to create a home that feels substantial, comfortable and specific to the people who live there.

Introducing Purdue2460.

A new multifamily building in West Los Angeles shaped by a simple question: how can a relatively dense building maintain a sense of depth, privacy, and individual identity within a much smaller residential context?

The façade is organized as a field of deeply recessed windows, balconies, and angled openings. These shifts animate the elevation throughout the day while moderating views, sunlight, and the perceived scale of the building.

Two residential volumes are separated by an open circulation spine, breaking down the overall mass and making movement through the building visible from the street.

Most of the work happens before finishes ever show up.

Proportion, depth, and light are all set here.

Structure is doing the work—so the final building doesn’t have to fake it.

Part of a Palisades rebuild—approaching it the same way we would any project: get the fundamentals right first.

The Case for Quiet Buildings

In a city that competes for attention at every corner, we’ve been asking a different question:

What if a building didn’t?

We wrote about it.
