ℂ𝕒𝕤𝕒 𝔸𝕞𝕒ñ𝕒 𝕓𝕪 𝕁ℝ 𝔸𝕟𝕕𝕣𝕒𝕕𝕖 𝔸𝕣𝕢𝕦𝕚𝕥𝕖𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕒
The Amaña Residence designed by the architect Junior Andrade is located in Taipus de Fora, inside the Maraú Peninsula (BA). The property is situated in a 5 thousand square meter plot, with a total built-up area of 550 square meters.
The project was designed in two modules, which the first, where the main house is located, contains three suites, a living room, a built-in kitchen and a view of the infinity-edge pool, a deck, and a gourmet area. In the second module, in the back, two exclusive bungalows with a private SPA were built, and a spectacular 360° view of pure nature.
Another differential is the private lake, which is part of the property, where the house connects visually with the surrounding nature. The project was completed last year, and its concept came from the use of local materials with Cumaru and Angelim woods, in harmony with the exuberant nature of the region.
“The main concept of the project was to adapt and integrate the house with nature. We can sense that clearly in the way that the surroundings are included and harmonized with the house. We see that through the openings of the windows and miters, which create a connection with nature at all times.
The infinity-edge pool was placed strategically, thinking again about the connection with the surroundings, which, in this case, was the house’s lake. Therefore, those who are inside the pool have the sensation of being inside the lake.
The local labor was another decisive element in our proposition, and the wood was used precisely to bring regionalism to the project”, explains the architect Junior Andrade.

Rooted in childhood memories, the house began with a collection of salvaged wooden doors and windows, some sourced from Myanmar via Mae Sot, Tak, Thailand. Their character reflects an Anglo-Burmese synthesis, combining British Colonial proportions and European window typologies with traditional Burmese craftsmanship—wooden joinery, pegs, louvers, and casement windows. Rather than serving as decorative elements, these openings became the architectural framework of the house, defining its proportions, height, rhythm, and relationship with light and air.

The narrow, deep site led the design toward the spatial typology of the Huean Pae in Wat Ket, Chiang Mai—traditional shophouse dwellings shaped by the area’s historic trade with Western communities. The house turns toward the street, engaging with its surroundings, while a central courtyard brings landscape, daylight, and ventilation into the depth of the plan.

Constructed in exposed brick and plaster, the building steps in height according to the scale of its reclaimed door and window frames. Adjustable timber louvers and slender iron grilles create a porous envelope, allowing the house to breathe while filtering light throughout the day. At the center of the courtyard, a Payom tree becomes a quiet marker of time—its changing shadows, seasonal blossoms, and fallen flowers recording the passage of days and seasons.

A contemporary house shaped by vernacular memory, inherited craftsmanship, and the rhythms of everyday life.

การกลับไปสู่ความคุ้นเคยที่เชื่อมโยงกับชีวิตวัยเยาว์ เป็นเหตุผลที่เจ้าของบ้านเก็บสะสมชุดประตู-หน้าต่างไม้เก่าไว้ ส่วนหนึ่งได้มาจากประเทศเมียนมา ผ่าน อ.แม่สอด จ.ตาก ซึ่งมีเอกลักษณ์ที่ผสมผสานระหว่างสถาปัตยกรรมอาณานิคมอังกฤษ (Colonial style) กับภูมิปัญญาช่างพื้นถิ่นเมียนมา (Anglo-Burmese influence) เป็นประตู-หน้าต่างที่รับเอารูปแบบและการใช้งานแบบยุโรปมาปรับประยุกต์ เช่น บานกระทุ้งและบานเกล็ดไม้ ที่มีการเข้าเดือยและยึดด้วยสลักไม้แบบตะวันออก แต่มีสัดส่วนของกรอบบานที่สูงแบบตะวันตก ประตู-หน้าต่างจึงเป็นโจทย์ที่เป็นตัวกำหนดรูปแบบและสัดส่วนของอาคารโดยรวม

ด้วยรูปทรงที่ดินที่มีหน้าแคบแต่ลึก ทำให้เรานำเอาเฮือนแป(เรือนร้านค้าที่หันหน้าออกถนน) ต.วัดเกตุ ซึ่งเป็นย่านการค้าขายกับชาติตะวันตกที่สำคัญในยุคหนึ่งของ จ.เชียงใหม่ มาใช้เป็นแนวคิดในการออกแบบ การหันหน้าบ้านออกเพื่อมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับภายนอก การเปิดคอร์ทเพื่อจัดสวนและรับแสงบริเวณกลางบ้านของเฮือนแปจึงถูกนำมาใช้

เมื่อนำมาประกอบกันแล้วเกิดเป็นอาคารก่ออิฐถือปูนที่มีความสูงแปรผันตามสัดส่วนของวงกบประตู-หน้าต่าง มีความโปร่งโล่งเพื่อรับแสงและระบายอากาศของกรอบบานเกล็ดปรับระดับและซี่ลูกกรงเหล็ก มีชานหน้าบ้านติดถนนเชื่อมโยงกับวิถีชีวิตในชุมชน มีต้นพะยอมบริเวณคอร์ทกลางบ้านทำหน้าที่เป็นนาฬิกาชีวิต ทอดแสงและเงา ออกดอกสะพรั่งและร่วงหล่นตามฤดูกาล

DJ House was built in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. Located on the corner street, the house is designed with a tropical style, modern minimalist architecture.

The building is a merge of two rectangular masses. The configuration of the masses creates a private inner courtyard with a swimming pool that separates the private and public areas.

The house consists of 2 storeys, as the 1st level is for public function such as living, dining, kitchen and guest bedroom, and the 2nd level is for the private area such as bedrooms, working room, a private gymnasium and a connecting door to access the service area.

As a request from the owner to have a large swimming pool, with the condition, we are facing the consequences that the inner court would be lacking some greenery on it, to solve this situation, we decide to put a vertical garden beside the pool.

The essential thing in the design process is to make a relationship between inside and outside that is maximized, thus by having a big opening to have a good advantage to the views of the courtyard with a wide swimming pool and beautiful vertical garden, creating a generous and cozy area, that allowed the owners to accommodate their activities both in indoor and outdoor.

The façade of the house with the natural and earthy material palette brings richness to the exterior and connects it with the landscape. This project explores the masses, composition of views, and use of materiality to create a home that is both warm and immersive.

The secondary screen is made from rattan as an accentuate on the façade which has function as a barrier against heat and sun. Also, there are a lot of glass windows allowing natural light into the home. In the interiors, most of the ceilings and walls are materialized of wood, which highlights the warmth of the house.

Architecture is about blurring boundaries between the inside and outside and establishing a co-relationship between humans, nature, and the built environment. The site is situated in a tight urban context with houses on all three sides. In response to the context, we aim to evolve a design language that maximizes the use of natural light, ventilation, and accessible green spaces within the home. This approach creates a more porous environment, giving rise to a series of connections and fostering interaction, further enhancing the users' way of life. It's an attempt to transform the space into a place, making the house into a home that celebrates life.
