July marks a decade since BCR CONTRACTING was founded. I cannot hardly believe it's been 10 years as I reflect on this milestone. What began as a humble handyman business, intended to supplement my income, has evolved into a full-fledged company and my primary occupation. As the business grew rapidly, I couldn't keep pace with the influx of work requests. In those critical early days, I turned to my wife, Lauren Reed, for support. I'll never forget the conversation we had, where I explained the overwhelming calls and work coming in. Her sage advice was, "If you don't do it now, you'll regret it for the rest of your life." I left a stable job with a salary and benefits, despite many people warning me that I was making a mistake and that the venture would fail. This was a particularly challenging time, as we had a one-year-old daughter at home. However, Lauren had unwavering faith in me and my abilities. The saying "Behind every successful man is a wife who believed in him even when he doubted himself" resonates deeply with me. She's the reason I've remained in business for 10 years. There have been numerous times when I felt like giving up, but Lauren's been there to steady me, offering words of encouragement and support. She's the one who listens to my daily struggles and makes things better. I love you, babe, forever and ever. Amen.
I want to extend my gratitude to Darren Abraham from Abraham Linc, whose business philosophy has had a lasting impact on me. During my time working for him, I was inspired by his motto, "If I make money, you will make money," which emphasizes the importance of taking care of employees. Darren and I left on good terms because he knew I was chasing a dream. We still cross paths occasionally and have great conversations. This approach has contributed significantly to the success of BCR CONTRACTING, enabling me to retain talented employees, including one who's been with me for 8 years and another for 4 years.
I'd also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Roger Mccray, who's been an invaluable partner and friend over the past decade. He's sacrificed a great deal to help me achieve my goals, and I'm deeply grateful for his unwavering support. He’s never hesitated to answer his phone day or night to listen to a problem I had on a job or an issue I was having with a customer to also talk me off a ledge, lol. We also talk life etc and he knows just about everything about me. You’ve become one of my best friends, and I will forever be grateful for you
To my brothers, I also want to extend gratitude. As when I was first starting out, they would help me in the evenings or weekends complete jobs and knockout small jobs when I would get behind on work. When I would call and without batting an eye, they picked up the phone and said that they would be there.
To my customers, I'm grateful for the trust you've placed in BCR CONTRACTING. Your support means the world to me and my family. By choosing
businesses like mine, you're not contributing to the wealth of a large corporation; you're helping families like mine put food on the table and achieve their goals. Helping my kids get to play U sports and be able to supply them with the accessories needed to do so.
