Anyone can do this, and it looks like a million bucks!
You can even simplify it if you like to look less formal.
Note: The key part to mimic for a strong floating shelf is the technique used to support it.
Attach “D” to wall studs with screws first.
“C” is part of shelf that drops down and can’t move.
Hence your support.
We did these a lot they’re easy and kinda fun. 😎

Tips from a Contractor
When 1978 calls, and wants its bathroom back, and the man of the house grabs a sledgehammer and says..... “ Stand back baby! ...
I got this. “
Please remind him that cutting around the perimeter of the tile, and taking it out in sections is much better and easier than breaking everything into tiny pieces.
Step # 2 When he cuts the electrical and/or plumbing lines in the process.
Call Semper Fi Construction @ 502-322-6782 and we’ll take over from there.

So often, all it takes to make a big difference in something is an idea and a little bit of love. In this case, a sheet of finish plywood, some paint and a couple of barn doors made this cool atrium in her master bedroom look so much better.

Tip From A Contractor
Please check your dryer vents annually.
Many older homes have outdated vents that are major fire hazards. They not only trap lint. They often have come apart and the HOT air has no where to go. This is serious business folks!!
You and your families lives are at risk by this negligence.
Simply turn on your dryer. Go outside to where the vent exits and check the air flow. If it’s not strong. You have a problem. Never ever vent to your attic or crawl space, as it has a high degree of moisture and most likely will create mold.

TIPS FROM A CONTRACTOR
For all you do-it yourselfers out there. We salute you! When you’re done framing your walls. Take an extra wide sharpie or a crayon and mark center of all your studs on the floor.
Now after drywall and primer have been applied, locating the studs for nailing the baseboard remains very easy

Making the home great again !!
This could’ve been bad !
While finishing this basement, it was discovered that major settling has been going on due to incorrect framing of a load bearing wall upstairs. Raising up the floor completely is impossible without affecting the function of entry doors, windows, and cracking ceramic tile just to name a few. Instead, we placed a triple member beam across to stabilize and secure. ( Notice the shimming of nearly 2” on top of the left side of the beam compared to the right). Beam is level. Neither it, or the closet was in the original plan.
Fortunately for the homeowners we found this early and was able to address the problem for material cost only.
We’re SEMPER FI CONSTRUCTION , and doing it right isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are.
“Always Faithful”

TIP FROM A CONTRACTOR
When you’re ready to tackle that drywall and paint project you’ve put off way too long, and the young lady at Lowes or Home Depot tells you that you don’t need primer, because they have paint with primer in it.
Don’t waste your money !!!!!
If you paint over a raw drywall patch/repair and don’t prime it first. It will FLASH. Meaning there will be a sheen difference on that area. Even with multiple coats. Do it right! Prime raw drywall mud first. Then paint.
Also, buy the better roller sleeves and brushes. The cost isn’t that much, but the difference is huge. The cheap ones leave lint and bristles behind in your finished work looking terrible.
Be safe everyone, and have a great day!!
