The social kitchen. 🤎

A kitchen that welcomes everyone in… while quietly hiding everything you don’t want everyone to see.

Because storage isn’t simply about having somewhere to put things. It’s about understanding how people actually live — the appliances you use every day, the food you need close at hand, the things you want accessible and the things you’d rather disappear behind a door.

This renovation was all about creating a kitchen that could work hard behind the scenes, with even a dedicated gluten-free pantry, while still feeling warm, open and inviting at the heart of the home.

One of the more original residential renovations from our portfolio.

We transformed this home into a light-filled space centred around a sculptural staircase, custom oak kitchen and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Every decision was driven by how the family wanted to live—not just how they wanted the house to look.

BELA Design Studio is now based in the UK and excited to bring this same thoughtful approach to homes here.

Bonjour! 🇫🇷✨

After a milestone-packed year of expanding my design studio from the US into the UK and France, I’m so excited to finally share one of the projects that marked this new chapter.

Welcome to Vélo Maison — a forgotten but oh-so-full-of-potential village house in the south of France, nestled in the charming town of Montlaur. With its quirky tile floors and endless character, the vision was always a thoughtful blend of old and new, inspired by our love of vintage French charm with a modern twist.

Over the past year, we transformed this little house from the inside out, bringing in light, warmth, and new life while preserving the history that made it so special. It was a joy to collaborate with an incredible team of local craftspeople—both old friends and new—as well as develop a fresh new brand alongside the renovation.

And before anyone comes for the original hardwood floors and tiles... don’t worry. 😉 We kept them. Every beautiful detail we uncovered along the way has been thoughtfully preserved and celebrated.
