Springtime brings with it additional chores like cleaning, organizing, and repairing. Most people are more than happy to jump right into those projects to break up the monotony that can come with winter. While you’re finishing the indoor chores, you’ve probably starting thinking about outdoor projects. Here are a few perfect spring electrical projects:

Outdoor Lighting:
You’re probably planning on, or at least dreaming of, backyard BBQs, garden parties, and family time in the yard. As you spend more time outdoors, installing lighting on decks, patios, or outside your home or garage is a great idea for both entertaining and security.

Surge Protection:
Summer storms can be a real problem and storm damage can mean more than just fallen trees. A clap of thunder or a bolt of lightning can cause a surge of electricity to enter your house through your main panel. In the blink of an eye, thousands of dollars of your favorite electronics are burned. A surge protector is an inexpensive way to protect your home and belongings from being damaged during those summer thunderstorms.

Replace Ceiling Fans:
Now is the time to make sure your fans are running properly. It’s going to start getting warm out. Repair or replace before you absolutely need that air flow to keep cool.

For those that love their space heaters 🔥
PLEASE READ and keep in mind these tips are for new-er homes with good up to code wiring, outlets not for old-er homes that have not been updated recently.

***AMPS is what causes fires.
✨️A 12 amp space heater, on a 15 amp generator outlet, with a 14 or thinner drop cord is going to cause problems! 🔥🔥
✨️Use 12 or 10 gauge 50ft or less drop cord. If you can't find the amp rating on the heater, ohms law. Div. Watts to voltage (120v) is typical for residential. ✨️Always check the plug ends on BOTH sides.
Warm ♨️= pushing it but normally ok
HOT🔥 = too many amps NOT GOOD!
✨️13amps is pushing it on a 15 amp outlet continuously. A few hours SHOULD be OK. "Should"
🔥Try sectioning off a room to maintain warmth. Towels under the door and along windows will help maintaining the heat

Amps = Watts ÷ Volts

1500 W ÷ 120 V = 12.5 amps

Tis the season! The cold hasn't shown up yet, but it will. Be prepared ❄️
Cold temperatures can put extra stress on your electrical system. Cold weather often leads to overloaded circuits, tripped breakers, moisture inside panels, and damage from winter storms.

⚡️🌩Watch for flickering or dimming lights

• Avoid overloaded outlets –

• Use space heaters safely – Plug directly into the wall, never use extension cords

• Check outdoor outlets & cords – Snow and moisture can cause shorts or ground faults.

• Protect against power surges – Winter storms and outages can cause surges when power is restored. A whole-home surge protector adds an extra layer of protection.

• Test GFCI outlets

• Consider a backup generator – A safe way to keep essential circuits running during winter outages.

⚡️Know the warning signs – Burning smells, buzzing, warm outlets, or frequent breaker trips should be checked immediately.

🌩If something doesn’t seem right, don’t ignore it—cold weather issues can turn into safety hazards fast.

I know alot of our surrounding communities were affected by the winds last night. I hope everyone is doing okay. Those winds were no joke.
💡 This is a helpful tip to prepare for future weather occurrences — protecting your home before the next storm hits, not after.
⚡ Why Choose a Whole-Home Power Surge Protector? ⚡
Power surges don’t just happen during storms — they can come from lightning, utility grid issues, or even everyday appliances cycling on and off.
A whole-home surge protector helps: ✔ Protect your family from electrical hazards
✔ Reduce the risk of electrical fires caused by surges
✔ Provide peace of mind during storms and outages
Think of it as a safety shield for your entire home — working quietly in the background 24/7.
Installed by a licensed electrician, this simple upgrade adds an important layer of protection to your home.
