Big things are coming to the tree care industry...I hope.

I've been building, and breaking prototypes since 2023 for a sister company that I started called ArborRay(TM), Truth Beneath The Bark(TM). It's like an X-ray but or trees.

There are already some on the market currently but can cost $30,000 or MORE per unit. Small companies like mine can't afford that type of investment, at least not all at once.

ArborRay is patent-pending, field-ready diagnostic tool that uses stress wave velocity to detect internal decay — offering a sonic tomography-style readout in color coded 2D imagery (3D coming soon) that will show cracks, voids, decay, objects and healthy wood with open hardware that is field-repairable and modern data mapping using GPS and GCS technologies with its own software thanks to a good friend "Dr. C", our software engineer.

This 29" (cumulative diameter) Eastern/Canadian Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) has been a work in progress, 11 months to be exact but well worth it.

In June of 2024, we started care immediately. This was the last tree Bobby and Moonshine, his 20-year-old "arbor dog" cared for together. To quote Bobby, "This tree means more to me than any tree I've ever cared for, because this was our last tree adventure, our last ride, and damn did we do great!"

The first thing we performed was the Hemlock Elongate Scale, Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, and spider mite treatment.

The next goal (based on a third-party soil analysis) was to increase the phosphorus and potassium levels, cation exchange capacity, organic matter content, and all of the micronutrients, as they were low. Basically, the soil was dead. Dead soil is bad for tree health. Usually, if the soil is good, insects and diseases usually work themselves out or the tree can grow beyond the infection.

Bobby and Moonshine performed a deep root feeding (in July 😬) with a "Bobby's Blend," a homemade cocktail (a science experiment to say the least) with EarthWorks Natural Organic Products, six different products to be exact. "Like a Jersey Mike's sub, we threw the pickles to it!!"

In May of 2025, we can see the tree is on its way to a full recovery. Results like these usually take years! As of May 17th, 2025, there are no Hemlock Elongate Scale, no Hemlock Woolly Adelgids, AND no mites. Just .

Volcano Mulch Mound Restoration & Girdling Root Pruning

Check out these great before, during, and after shots (plus a few extras) showing the restoration of volcano mulch mounds and girdling roots.

Each tree took about two hours to restore. Bobby and his team removed girdling roots by the 60-gallon bucket load—okay, it was only two loads, but still impressive!

Girdling roots can severely restrict the flow of water and nutrients, leading to stress and eventual death of the tree if left unaddressed. They also open the door for additional stressors like scale and borer insects.

All six October Glory Red Maple trees were found to be infested with thousands of gloomy scale insects. Fortunately, our ISA Certified Arborist and Plant Health Care Specialist, Bobby Solar, will be treating them to restore their health and vitality along with a prescription fertilization this autumn based on third party soil analysis.

Beech Leaf Disease preventive treatment via macroinfusion performed by ISA Certified Arborist Bobby Solar. This has been shown to be effective for at least two years in conjunction with other practices such as soil nutrition, proper pruning, and sanitation. All of our equipment is sanitized between properties.

Beech Leaf Disease is fatal to ALL Beech trees if left untreated and is currently in Prince William County, just a stones throw away.

Yeah, we can perform tree removals but it's a massive waste of our skills and talents. If you care for your trees (and shrubs) we will too, I mean it's in our name after all.

We had to replace a cabling system that was no longer beneficial for the tree. Cable systems, static or dynamic, shall always be inspected by qualified arborists and replaced if necessary. A small weight reduction pruning and a new system was installed and on to the next tree.

ISA Certified Arborist and Plant Health Care specialists Bobby, know as the "Mad Scientist" by his colleagues performs a precise prescription soil amendment and soil conditioner for 2023's growing season. In his cocktail the infamous Sea3, 110.130 million mycrorrhizae fungi, magnesium, boron, molybdenum, manganese, zinc, and chelated iron along with a touch of potassium and molasses. 57" DBH Red Oak. Prescription before diagnosis is malpractice!!!
