Every year when we receive this letter, I’m reminded how blessed I am. Taking care of lawns is a huge part of what we do, but the relationships we’ve built along the way mean even more.

It’s crazy hot out there, so here are a few simple tips to help keep your lawn alive and green:

🌱 Mow taller: Taller grass holds moisture better and helps shade the soil from the heat.

💧 Water early: Try to water between 4am-6am, so the lawn has time to dry during the day. Depending on your grass, soil, etc.. it'll take between 1-2 inches of water per week to keep it green in this heat.
Water 2-3x a week.

🧪 Be careful with fertilizer: I wouldn’t push heavy nitrogen right now unless your lawn is already healthy and growing well. A fertilizer with potassium (the last number on the bag) can help with stress, but right now the main goal is keeping the lawn alive and hydrated. Something like a 5-0-20 or similar is great.

🚿 Try a wetting agent: This can help water pe*****te the soil instead of running off or sitting on top. A little baby shampoo 👶🧴 is a basic option, but look up the correct application rate before trying it. (YouTube or Goodle)
