On Friday, August 7, South Plains College celebrated the opening of its renovated Aquatic Center on the Levelland campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. BGR is excited to have partnered with South Plains College to help bring this important project to life, benefiting not only College students but the entire Levelland community. The turn-out was tremendous.

It’s always great to back our local school districts. BGR was pleased to sponsor the Roosevelt Education Foundation Golf Tournament, which supports graduate scholarships and innovative educators. BGR Principal David Beckham attended and played golf with two of his sons. Thanks to Roosevelt ISD and Superintendent Dallas Grimes.

BGR is pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Carson Blythe, who has joined us as our Front Desk Receptionist. In this role, she will be the first point of contact for our office, managing phone inquiries and providing a warm, professional welcome to all incoming visitors. While she is new to the architectural industry, her enthusiasm and dedication to learning ensure she will be a wonderful asset to our organization. She earned her degree in Marine Biology at the Hawaiʻi Pacific University. Please join us in welcoming her to the BGR team!

With severe weather season upon us, schools may be considering making their facilities more resistant to local severe storms. BGR has worked with several local school districts within the past couple of years to incorporate actual tornado shelters into facility designs. For instance, BGR Architects designed a tornado shelter within a classroom wing of the recently completed North Elementary School for Dumas ISD, thus making their students safer during the spring/summer severe weather season. The Spring 2026 issue of Learning By Design’s Educational Facilities Design Awards Showcase honors Frenship ISD’s Memorial High School with an Outstanding Project Award. The competition’s jury comments included: “Demographic studies and community input guided the planning of this second high school, addressing equity concerns. The campus offers Career Tech programs, including vocational shops, culinary, health/nursing, floral design, and media production labs. Facilities include a competition gym, auxiliary gyms that double as tornado shelters, and dedicated performing arts spaces. A central commons supports collaboration, while an auto technologies lab strengthens workforce readiness, resulting in a practical, community-focused school.”
