Handcrafted Solid White Oak Console Table – Heirloom Quality

This piece was handcrafted from solid white oak using traditional mortise and tenon construction. The drawer front was cut from the same board as the table front for continuous grain. Drawer is built with dovetails and blind dovetails.

A recent piece from our workshop…

This table will never be for sale, but it has a story worth sharing.

The top is made from one single solid piece of Katalox (sometimes called Mexican Royal Ebony) — an exotic hardwood known for its weight, density, and dramatic color variation. The light and dark contrast you see is not two boards joined together — it’s all from the same slab, from the same tree.

The top measures 12” × 44” and was built to fit this space in our hallway perfectly.

Stevie built this gorgeous table using traditional joinery — no screws, no nails.

The base was intentionally made from pine because it would be painted and distressed, allowing the wood top to remain the true star of the piece.

The distressed white finish was chosen to tie into the world map wall in our bedroom, because we can see this table from there when the doors are open. Little details like that matter to us.

It now lives in our hallway, where it will stay. 🩵
