The original Throwback!

“Throwback to a time when downtown Paducah was the heartbeat of the Texas plains. The historic Cottle Hotel stood tall as a gathering place for ranchers, travelers, and locals alike. Excited to bring this iconic landmark back to life and preserve a piece of West Texas history for generations to come.”

The historic Cottle Hotel in downtown Paducah is coming back to life!

After sitting vacant for many years, renovation work is now officially underway on one of the most iconic buildings in Cottle County. The project aims to carefully restore and reinvent the nearly century-old hotel into a premier boutique destination that honors the rich history of the Texas plains while creating a new centerpiece for the future of downtown Paducah.

The extensive renovation is expected to take approximately two years, with completion currently projected for the spring of 2028.

When completed, the fully renovated three-story hotel will feature 25 boutique guest rooms, including a combination of overnight accommodations and extended-stay suites complete with kitchens. The vision for the property is to create a true West Texas experience blending historic character, ranching heritage, and modern luxury into one unforgettable destination.

One of the most unique features of the project will be “George’s,” a full-scale basement bar and cigar lounge named after George Washington Cottle, the namesake of Cottle County and a defender who died fighting at the Alamo. The space is being designed to capture the spirit of the Old West while offering a high-end gathering place unlike anything else in the region.

Throughout the hotel, guests will experience the story of Cottle County and the surrounding plains through carefully curated historical elements celebrating more than 100 years of local ranching, cowboy, Native American, and frontier history. From the architecture and décor to the artwork and displays, the project is intended to preserve and showcase the unique identity of this part of Texas.

Plans for the development also include a first-floor event venue designed for weddings, receptions, community gatherings, and special events, creating a new destination space for both residents and visitors. In addition, discussions are currently underway with a boutique clothing retailer to open a storefront on the corner of the first floor, further contributing to the revitalization of downtown commerce.

Developers say the goal is not simply to renovate a building, but to help spark new energy and investment throughout downtown Paducah.

“This project is about preserving history while building something people can be proud of for generations to come,” ownership said. “The Cottle Hotel has always been part of the story of Paducah. We want to honor that history while creating a place that brings people together again.”

Once complete, the Cottle Hotel is expected to become the flagship property of downtown Paducah a destination that reflects the grit, history, and enduring spirit of the Texas plains.

Spring is bringing big things to Hicks Co. in Paducah, TX!!

We’ve been busy setting the tone for something special! Starting with the new café awning, now paired with an antique bar from the old country club. It’s all about bringing a little sentimental charm back to the patio in downtown Paducah, rooted in generations of Cottle County cowboys.

Just down the road, the Cottle County Hotel is in full swing. We’re pushing forward! Handling business, knocking out demo work, and restoring the historic gems that make this place what it is.

We also wrapped up a new awning at Plains Lumber, giving us room to store even MORE quality lumber for the customers we’re so grateful for.
And we’re not done yet… one more surprise is on the way.

Thank you, Paducah, TX. Let’s keep making Paducah beautiful for generations to come see and enjoy… and maybe a few outsiders too.

Today we pour one out for our beloved friend and customer Joie.

Joie was a loyal customer and member of our community who especially enjoyed our Friday Fish fry.

If it wasn’t for Joie we would have never added shrimp to the menu. He was always thoughtful and making helpful suggestions and never left the table uncleared no matter how many times we tried to tell him we would take care of it.

He would say “I don’t leave a mess at home and I’m not gonna leave one here”

Joie is also the reason we have chilled glasses for our beer. He never left without making sure everyone felt appreciated. You will be dearly missed our friend,

This one’s for you, Joie.
