The man behind the Grasshopper Saddlery name is Ed, who has made his home right here in Paducah alongside his beautiful wife and their sweet, spunky daughter who is full of life. They’re right next door to Crossroads Cafe and have become such a special part of our little downtown family.

And just look at these two celebrities in the photo! One beautiful cowgirl all the way from Australia, and that fine young man standing beside her… well, everyone knows him!

One thing about us, we know how to have a good time at the Crossroads of America.

There’s something special about this time of year. A crisp breeze blowing through downtown, cars parked along the square, and the sound of people visiting, laughing, and enjoying one another.

It’s the kind of season that makes a small town feel even more magical.

We absolutely love seeing old photos of downtown Paducah and the people who made these streets what they are today. There is something so special about looking back, remembering the faces, the stories, the good times, and the energy that filled downtown through the years.

Today, we remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed by that day. We remember the first responders, the brave men and women who ran toward danger, the families who lost loved ones, and the strength of a nation that came together in the days that followed.

Here in Paducah, there is something especially meaningful about seeing the American flags lining our downtown streets. It is a beautiful reminder that remembrance does not always have to be loud. Sometimes it is simply a flag waving in the breeze, a quiet moment of gratitude, and a community choosing to remember.

Hicks Co Plains Project is proud to be a part of this community, but we also want to give credit where it is due. We do not put up these flags. The people around town and the Paducah Texas Chamber of Commerce are the ones who make downtown so memorable on days like today.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to put up the flags and keep this tradition alive. Thank you, Paducah Texas Chamber of Commerce, for helping our little corner of the crossroads of America remember.

A small Hicks Co. Project last week..

This is your reminder that it takes a village! Around here, getting the job done isn’t always a one person job. Sometimes it takes a few extra hands, a little teamwork, and everyone pitching in to make it happen.

It takes more than one crew to get the job done and this was one of those days!

A little extra help, a lot of teamwork, and another project moving right along. We’re thankful for everyone who’s willing to jump in and help us out when we need it.

It takes everyone. That’s how we get it done.
