Last week, we had the opportunity to welcome CRH leaders to our Preferred Materials Odessa facility, including Randy Lake, Chief Operating Officer for CRH, John Rothering, Chief Operating Officer for Americas Materials, and Tim Ortman, President of Americas Building Products.

During the visit, they toured the Odessa Ready Mix Concrete plant, equipment shop, quality control lab, Block and Gunite plant, while spending time with local leadership discussing operations, growth opportunities and the important work taking place across the region.

Visits like these are a valuable opportunity to showcase how our teams are working safely, serving customers, collaborating across businesses and leveraging the strength of CRH’s connected portfolio. It also gives leaders the chance to hear directly from the teams whose dedication, expertise and commitment to safety drive our success every day.

Thank you to everyone who helped host the visit and shared their story. Your efforts made the visit a success!

We're proud to share that Preferred Materials has been awarded nine ACAF awards, including "Florida's Statewide Urban Road Builder of the Year" for our work on State Road 573 (S Dale Mabry) in Hillsborough County, and the 2026 A.P. Bolton Award for our US 301 project in Tampa.

Presented by the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida (ACAF), the A.P. Bolton Award recognizes the best paving project completed in the state of Florida each year, making it one of the highest honors in our industry.

This year's award adds to an incredible legacy:
2026 - US 301 (Tampa)
2024 - SR 597 / Dale Mabry (Tampa)
2022 - I-75 from CR 672 to Progress Blvd. (Tampa)
2021 - I-75 MM 0.00 to 12.547 (Tampa)
2020 - SR 25 / US 441 (Jacksonville)

To win this award once is an accomplishment. To earn it five times in the last seven years, including four of the last six from our Tampa operations, is a testament to the people who show up every day committed to doing the job the right way.

Congratulations to Superintendent Pat Longstreet and Foreman Mike Raley for leading the team on this year's award-winning project. Pat has been part of four A.P. Bolton-winning projects, while William Boulanger helped lead three of those award-winning efforts. Awards like this happen because of talented crews, strong leadership, attention to detail, and a shared commitment to excellence from everyone involved.

Thank you to every team member who contributed to these projects over the years. We couldn't be more proud of what you've accomplished and the reputation you've built across Florida.

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up early and represented PMI in our first Asphalt & Concrete collaborative mud run. Challenging obstacles, lots of laughs, and the chance to support Seamark Ranch, a worthwhile local organization that PMI is proud to stand behind!

In honor of Earth Day, the EHS team led a hands-on activity building bug boxes to support local ecosystems. Designed to give Florida native insects a safe place to nest, these will be placed across multiple locations, including Gautier, Mississippi; Orlando; Odessa; Jacksonville; and DeBary. It’s something we’re proud of, not just the work itself, but what it reflects about our commitment to environmental care and the shared effort behind it.

In recognition of Go Orange Day, our teams came together to show support for National Work Zone Awareness Week by wearing orange and reinforcing the importance of work zone safety. Team lunches and orange‑themed snacks provided a chance to connect while keeping the focus on awareness and responsibility in and around active work zones.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped emphasize the importance of staying alert, slowing down, and protecting the crews who work every day to keep our roads safe!
