⚡ MUST DO MONDAY ⚡

🔌 Press the TEST button on every GFCI outlet in your house. Ten seconds each.

😳 Here’s why it matters: when a GFCI fails, the power usually STAYS ON. The outlet works fine and protects nobody. Nothing tells you.

🔍 Plug in a lamp → press TEST → lamp should die → press RESET → lamp comes back. If TEST doesn’t kill the power, that outlet needs replaced. 🚨

📍 Check bathrooms, kitchen, garage, basement, laundry, outdoors.

⚡ FACT FRIDAY: The number most homeowners have never heard of. ⚡

🔢 A standard 15-amp circuit gives you 1,800 watts on paper. But you should only ever plan on using about 1,440 of them.

💡 Here’s the math: 15 amps × 120 volts = 1,800 watts. Then the 80 percent safety rule kicks in, which says never load a circuit past 80 percent of its capacity. That leaves you 1,440 usable watts, or roughly 8 outlets. ✅

🔥 Why the rule exists: a circuit running at full capacity for long stretches builds heat in the wiring. The 20 percent buffer is what keeps that heat in check. It’s the difference between a circuit that works and a circuit that works safely.

🚨 So when your breaker keeps tripping every time the space heater, microwave, and hair dryer are all going, it isn’t a faulty breaker. That breaker is doing exactly what it was built to do. Ignoring it, or worse, swapping in a bigger one, is how electrical fires start. ⚠️

🎉 And that’s your Trivia Thursday answer: 🅱️ 8 outlets! Great guesses in the comments yesterday. 🙌

📞 If your breakers trip regularly, your outlets feel warm, or your panel is decades old, let’s take a look before it becomes a real problem. We’ll tell you straight.

⚡ It’s TRIVIA THURSDAY! ⚡ Time to test your electrical knowledge. 🧠

🔌 How many outlets can you safely put on one 15-amp circuit?

🅰️ 6
🅱️ 8
🇨 10
🇩 13

👇 Drop your guess in the comments! No cheating, and no asking your electrician friend. 😉

💡 Here’s a hint: it comes down to how much of a circuit’s capacity you’re actually allowed to use. Overloading a circuit is one of the most common issues we find in older homes, and it’s usually why that one breaker keeps tripping every time the space heater comes on. 🔥

🗓️ We’ll be revealing the answer with tomorrow’s FACT FRIDAY post, so make sure you’re following along! Think you’ve got it? 🤔

MUST DO MONDAY ⚡

Here’s something most homeowners never think to check — double-tapped breakers.

When two wires are connected to a single breaker terminal, it creates an uneven current load, overheating, and a serious arc fault risk. Unless your electrical panel uses breakers specifically rated for dual wiring (like Cutler-Hammer or Square D QO series), double-tapping is a code violation — and a hidden fire hazard sitting right in your home.

Open your panel and look for any breaker with more than one wire attached to the same terminal. If you see it, don’t ignore it.

We’ll inspect it, correct it, and make sure your panel is safe and up to code.

📞 Call or message us to schedule your panel inspection.

Quality Over Quantity — always.
