I suddenly wake up and notice all the things that are begging to be noticed; how my eyes take a few extra minutes to fully open , how my body yearns to be twisted, the smell of the coffee beckoning me out of the bed. As I fill my cup, I’m eager for the relatively crisp air of a late summer morning. So I step outside in my housecoat, hoping to go unseen by the cars rushing to and fro. I find a place on my front porch, the white rocker that has many times now been my companion. There’s a fresh start to the morning, a lightness in the air, evidence of wildlife: both crickets and birds chirping - hummingbirds that come to say “good morning” and “thank you for the flowers.” Sulphur cosmos gently blow, bouncing their little heads as if to nod greetings to the day. Breaths, get deeper and time slows down when I’m here; no rush, no worry. GOOD MORNING.
