I met a seriously cool group of green thumbs when I visited the South Warren Community Garden! 👨‍🌾 Only in their second year, these determined volunteers already donated 1,000lbs of produce estimated at $4,400 to the local region. And they're just getting started.

There's so many great things about the Eastpointe Community Garden that...I don't even know what to mention first. 🤯 Over $23,000 worth of produce donated to the community for FREE since it was planted nearly 15 years ago. Nearly 1,000lbs of food donated in 2026 alone. Rental beds available next season for locals to plant some roots, sponsorship opportunities for engaged businesses, and this Saturday - a free art exhibit! 🗒 Event link in comments.

It's a beautiful week for exploring one of Macomb County's most GORGEOUS book hubs. 😍📖 You've gotta stop by the CMPL North Branch library in Macomb Township! Stunning architecture and attention to detail on the inside, and plenty of pollinators and peaceful places to read a book outdoors. Bookworms AND earthworms win!

I can't wait for you to read about how this library is preserving knowledge AND natural resources when MGG goes to print next spring. Wetland preservation, upcycling of natural materials, geothermal heating systems...you're gonna love what North Branch is all about.

SHOW SOME LOVE 💚 to my incredible photographer, Abagael Gallagher. Currently a Photography Major at Macomb Community College, Abbey is an integral part of Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces. This book could not happen without her massive talent behind the camera!

📸 She's not "just a student." Abbey's got incredible instincts and a natural talent for her artform, with a particular knack for framing photos. I don't know how she does it, but she consistently draws out emotional undertones and moods from stationary settings.

Hello lovely Macomb Green Thumbs. 🌿 Quick update during this busiest month for the book: this wildfire smoke is really cramping Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces' style. 😣

Unfortunately, our professional cameras are picking up quite a lot of the wildfire smoke. As long as there is visible particulate matter within about 10'-20' of distance, we are not getting the print-worthy photos we need to really make your gardening stories shine.

This is happening at the worst time! My calendar is packed with interviews that may need to get rescheduled. I appreciate your flexibility as I do my best to capture your gardens at peak bloom. Keep an eye on your email for more info if you have an interview coming up during this smokey period.

On a happier note, I finally have a big bowl of backyard goodies harvested! 🍅 My eggplant is lanky and something is negatively impacting the bottoms of my dwarf carrots but hey - still got a great first haul for the season! Self-proclaimed “Crazy Plant Lady,” Mary in Chesterfield took me on two separate tours of her jam-packed property last year. I learned so much about native and invasive species from her, as well as a fun gardening prank to pull on my daughter when she’s older.
