SHOW SOME LOVE 💚 to my incredible photographer, Abagael Gallagher. Currently a Photography Major at Macomb Community College, Abbey is an integral part of Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces. This book could not happen without her massive talent behind the camera!

📸 She's not "just a student." Abbey's got incredible instincts and a natural talent for her artform, with a particular knack for framing photos. I don't know how she does it, but she consistently draws out emotional undertones and moods from stationary settings.

Hello lovely Macomb Green Thumbs. 🌿 Quick update during this busiest month for the book: this wildfire smoke is really cramping Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces' style. 😣

Unfortunately, our professional cameras are picking up quite a lot of the wildfire smoke. As long as there is visible particulate matter within about 10'-20' of distance, we are not getting the print-worthy photos we need to really make your gardening stories shine.

This is happening at the worst time! My calendar is packed with interviews that may need to get rescheduled. I appreciate your flexibility as I do my best to capture your gardens at peak bloom. Keep an eye on your email for more info if you have an interview coming up during this smokey period.

On a happier note, I finally have a big bowl of backyard goodies harvested! 🍅 My eggplant is lanky and something is negatively impacting the bottoms of my dwarf carrots but hey - still got a great first haul for the season! Sandy’s award-winning Victorian property has been featured in local garden walks, across regional newspapers, and honored as a member of the Shelby Township Beautification Hall of Fame. 🤯 I was blessed to stroll through this paradise on two occasions, and I’m hoping Sandy will adopt me like one of her neighborhood stray cats because…WOW! I’d live back here!

Self-proclaimed “Crazy Plant Lady,” Mary in Chesterfield took me on two separate tours of her jam-packed property last year. I learned so much about native and invasive species from her, as well as a fun gardening prank to pull on my daughter when she’s older. Connie in Washington Township has moved ~29 times~ in her life. This house is IT! She and her husband are investing in their final, forever home and its 2.3 acres of winding woodland. There've been challenges, for sure, but learning to work with the land has been an exercise in peace. 🌳 And just a lot of plain ol' exercise!
