Ever notice how some tree branches seem to fall during the hottest part of summer, even without a storm? ☀️
During long periods of hot, dry weather, trees lose moisture. Over time, that can make certain limbs weaker and more brittle, especially large branches that carry a lot of weight. Some trees will even shed limbs as a survival response to reduce stress on the rest of the tree.
That’s why summer is a good time to pay attention to heavy branches hanging over driveways, roofs, patios, or play areas. A tree doesn’t always need a storm to show signs that it’s struggling.
