We've got a little news for everyone today:

Last Monday (Memorial Day) our garage caught fire!

The exact cause is unknown, but there were a few possibilities. The end result is that our garage is toast along with almost everything in it. The good news is that no one was hurt and the main house is fine (the garage is detached).

The truck and trailer are unscathed, as they were in the driveway. My EV charger got fried, though, so it's keeping all the equipment charged has been a little tricky. I hope to have that resolved very soon, however.

Because of this it's possible that we may have skipped some lawns, or put them off a few days. On top of mowing we're also handling the cleanup ourselves, so it's been a crazy week! We really appreciate everyone's patience and support. We will be back to 100% very soon πŸ’š

One of my favorite things about the Lightning is the frunk, and the four power outlets inside of it. Sawzalls, blades, extra batteries, an air compressor, impact wrench, socket set, work gloves, extension cords and a whole bunch of hand tools come in handy nearly every day.

We've stopped doing No Mow May, and this post from Prairie Up explains it better than we ever could.

Turf grass is hard to beat if you need walkable areas. The better thing to do is to designate areas that you want pollinator plants to be, and then have turf in for the rest. Having native plants in your yard will help your soil/turf retain water. Turf where you need it and native everywhere else πŸͺ»

Here's a little sneak peek into the trailer that powers our lawn operations day to day⚑️

The truck, an F-150 Lightning, has a 240v/30 amp outlet in the bed. I installed a receptacle on the front of the trailer, which then powers a sub panel on the inside.

From there we just plug in what we need. The Ego batteries will charge throughout the day, and everything can charge overnight while the truck is plugged in :)

There are a lot of ways to manage leaf cleanup, but we generally recommend blowing leaves in to garden beds for winter time insulation, and mulching the rest πŸ‚

This will preserve a lot of leaves for bugs to nest while also fertilizing the grass. Leaves left on lawns will decompose, but only to a certain degree. Too much and you'll be left with a muddy mess in the spring! It's all about finding a balance 😊

Keep the leaf tea out of the lakes, and let us mulch them up right in your lawn πŸ‚
