Today I want to talk about building in the Madison Parks and Specifically Tenney Park Beach. This project started over 6 months ago and there are high rises that have started and completed floors in that time.

I'm just not sure how the city makes these decisions. The old building worked. There is a beach next to it and a newer playground. Since the end of last winter, the beach has been closed, and the playground is off limits.

If you are a kid, or a family that likes the beach, 2024 was a complete bust.

Ice sports start soon, and meany people drop there ice shacks off the Tenny Beach parking lot, but not if this building doesn't get completed soon as that area stays fenced off too.

My point is: When decisions are made on building in the parks, part of the cost/benefit analysis should include one year of loss for the community, of everything that section of the park has to offer and if you are a kid, that is a significant part of your childhood.

We are moving forward with a new addition near Atwood and Fair Oaks. We couldn't find anyone to do the concrete work, so we did it ourselves. Next stop waterproofing, gravel, and Backfill. Then slurry floor and carpentry begins!

So much news! Abi's leaving to work with Tony Trap Remodeling after 7 years with GLB. Here she is in this picture of Bird, Abi, Barry, and Geoff..
I got my start years ago with Architectural Building Arts with a 7 year stint under Steve Larson, who sadly passed away recently.
Everyone in this picture besides Abi is a former part of the Architectural Building Arts Family. So, I guess that makes her a daughter of Architectural Building Arts.
Abi trained under John Stephany another ABA alumni at Madison's MATC where John is now an instructor, before starting with me.
And to top it off at Tony Trap's Remodeling she will be working under the Great Chris Kahl, another ABA alumni!
This post started as a good-bye and thank you, to just the great Abi Regan, but has morphed into a thank you to all my working families: ABA, MATC, Tony Trap Remodeling, and the great Steve Larson.
I am so thankful.
