Is your group struggling to find that "Identity" for your business or non-profit? I love to work through concepts to garner that sign you've been looking for. I had a lot of fun working with the Emmet County Fair Board to develop this sign and they made T-shirts that year to show it off! Amy's Sign Design of Okoboji fabricated the sign and Jason Kirschbaum did the brick work.

Entryway Sign concept used for all 4 entryways on Highways 4 and 18 from Emmetsburg, IA. I collaborated with Jane Whitmore (Editor of the Democrat), Patrick Degen (at the time on Emmetsburg City Council, more recently, Mayor) and Ronald Ludwig (Horizons Unlimited) to get the first two started. Emmetsburg, with the help of the Visioning Committee, applied for grants to help fund the signs and plantings.

I have prepared sketches of homes with a "vision" for the landscaping that best enhances the front entryway to homes. Contact me if you need a schematic to incorporate your favorite plant palette and colors, with consideration of the level of maintenance you desire. As a designer and former landscape crew foreman, I have a unique insight to what will make will provide "instant" curb appeal! This is especially important when selling your home or preparing a year or two in advance of a big event.

Here is an update on what I started 7 years ago! Time flies when you are having fun living life because the landscaping takes care of itself! (Minus derecho damage, of course) I w**d about 2-3 times/year and mulch about once every three years.

Finished the "beginnings" of our landscape today. In the spring, when I'm sure that all the plantings are "w**d-free," we will start building the retaining walls and installing limestone edging to add visual interest and complement the architecture of the house. At that time, we'll also lay w**d barrier and trap rock in the areas that are planted, leaving some mulched areas where I will add perennials and bulbs.
